    Summary

After a mission that should have been like any other, Midoriya comes back... changed.

    Stronger. Quieter. Distant.

At first, Bakugo thinks it's an improvement. Finally, Deku isn't clinging to him, isn't trailing behind like he used to. It's what he always wanted, right?

So why does it feel like something's wrong?

Why does it bother him when Midoriya stops calling him Kacchan?

Why does it feel worse when Midoriya doesn't react at all?

As the distance between them grows, Bakugo finds himself picking fights just to get a reaction, any reaction, but the anger he's used to doesn't come back. Instead, he's left facing something unfamiliar, something uncomfortable, something he doesn't have a name for.

Because for the first time, Midoriya isn't chasing him.

And Bakugo doesn't know how to deal with being the one left behind.
