Work Text:

Bright…

Her vision opens to a new sky, colorful and trickling into her eyes and everything around. The warm saturated land cradles her weak body, unable to recall what she was doing before.

Legs wobble under her as she emerges and sees someone else in the distance. A threat? No, this place is too euphoric, too calming, too everything except real.

This feels like a dream.

The someone in the distance has long flowing white hair, everything is bleached white here except for the marker scribbled sky. The figure looks at her, her gaze unwavering and holy… and familiar.

“Hello–”

The girl pauses and clasps her throat. She sounds ages younger, as if her age has melted away past her feet. Maybe it rose into the kaleidoscope sky.

Her words are interrupted by a chuckle from the other, followed by the sweetest smile she's ever seen. Wrong—she's seen this smile, she knows this smile. Wait…

It’s her.

The girl who always made her heart race just like it is in this moment. The girl who left her for the sky so, so long ago.

She stumbles towards her, attempting to run in her new form. Her hands brush past the girl’s waist, pulling her into a long needed embrace. Things start blurring around them as tears come, having someone able to wipe them off now unlike the past decades.

Time dissolves into shapes and colors as her savior finally whispers:

“I’ve been waiting, now come on, it’s time to go through the gates.”
