Work Text:
It was a few hours after teaching; Isako Toriumi was taking a stroll around Paulownia Mall. It was the usual, but she's a bit tipsy today. The pressure from work… and the pressure of crushing on one of her students was taking a toll in its way. Maybe she would have a story to tell her dear Tatsuya today.
She just got out of Club Escapade; it wasn’t too late, though. The clouds set in, covering the night beyond. All that was here in front of her was the light from the various shops.
It was a nice night. The mall was buzzing with idle chatter and wind per usual. Toriumi was only a bit off her rocker, but nothing too bad. Her posture was a slightly lazy slouch, a stark contrast to her usual display of confidence in the classroom.
She stalks to the mall's signature fountain, no goal in mind. There's not much to do when you’re tipsy but wallowing in your misery.
She must not have realised it, but she feels her body clash with someone elses. Even within the minimal distance, the stench of expensive cologne was most prevalent.
“Watch where you’re going!” Says a heavy voice. “Gee, you think you’re ever gonna get a man looking like that? Put some effort."
She didn't think she caught that correctly, but it all made sense when she took a step back, taking in the sight in front of her. Make sense this geezer would say something like that.
It was a sleazy old man draped in an expensive suit and a tie that reeks of classism. He was slightly chubby, but it was what's expected from an old man saying something like that to her. His hair was a brownish grey, neatly combed, but must have been slightly dishevelled from a day's work.
She furrows her brow, lips curving into a frown as she points an accusing finger. “Sh… shut the fuck up! You’re in no position to tell me what to do.”
The man's thin eyebrows rise in surprise; no one should be in a place to talk back to him. Seems like Toriumi knows her worth.
…
Hey, he looks familiar.
Isn’t he that creepy guy that owns a home shopping show? Aren't his things just ridiculously overpriced? He shouldn't be one to talk about putting in ‘effort’. What was his name… President… ah, President Tanaka. At least her mind is somewhat coherent.
“And you’re drunk as well, gosh. No one is ever gonna want you. Maybe if I were desperate enough… I would consider it. Only because of that face of yours. Not exactly flattering when you're slouching the night away. Inefficient..."
What the hell does that mean!? Never would Toriumi stoop so low for a disrespectful man.
She wants someone like Makoto… or Tatsuya. They feel one in the same; maybe that's why she enjoys talking to Tatsuya so much. If not Makoto, maybe Tatsuya would treat her right. Not him. He looks like a slob who would expect you to cook and clean for him day after day! That’s not the life she wants to live.
After all, if she weren't a teacher, she wouldn't be able to see Makoto. Why give it up for someone like him? Why is she overthinking this!?
She shakes her head, face riddled with repulsion. She made sure her expression was obvious.
And it did work; Tanaka seems to be… unflattered by it. He flinches back in disgust.
But of course, old geezers will never learn. Especially rich ones. Just because you think of yourself as someone of ‘high calibre' doesn't mean you treat people like dirt. But who is she to question anyone's authority? She doesn’t get paid enough for this.
Toriumi only scowls at the man, but he only stands there with his hands clasped. What, is he going to accost other drunk women and whine about how they will never be good enough? Again, what a way to treat a lady.
Makoto should know about this… But… she shouldn't be talking to her students about matters outside of school. If not Makoto, maybe Tatsuya.
