A flash of red among the fleshly fallen snow caught Ophilia's eye first.
Flamesgrace was no stranger to blizzards, and the morning after such a blizzard was always surprisingly joyous. Children played in the fallen snow while others helped pave paths through the snow for themselves and their neighbors, and lanterns were shared freely. Ophilia herself liked to walk the streets the morning after snowfall, offering support to all those in need.
This morning the clouds parted, allowing sunlight to sparkle upon the blindingly white snow. Ophilia held up a hand to shield her eyes, but still the flash of red drew her attention. Her chest tightened, fearing blood from someone who had slipped on ice, but instead she heard cheers, and let out a sigh of relief. The snow was beautiful, but it could also be dangerous, she knew.
At the center of town, a small crowd had formed, and Ophilia's breath caught in her throat as people parted to allow her through. Primrose, clad in a flowing red dress, danced upon a spot of cobblestone that had been cleared of snow, and her movements were both elegant and powerful. No music played, but easily Ophilia could imagine the passionate song that would suit Primrose perfectly.
Since the end of their journeys as eight, Primrose carried herself lighter, prouder. "I never expected my journey for revenge would help save the world," Primrose once said to Ophilia. "To have destroyed such a vile organization - well, I suppose my father would be proud of that, hm?"
Primrose caught Ophilia's gaze and gave her an alluring wink as she continued to dance. Her red dress followed her moves freely, light and airy, a beautiful splash of color against the white snow. Despite her exposed skin, especially her powerful thighs, Ophilia felt warmer just watching her, and all around her the crowd cheered and clapped. There was a newfound joy in Primrose's dancing, one that took Ophilia's breath away. She could not stop watching, nor did she wish to.
In the depths of the night, Ophilia knew every curve of Primrose's body, all the warmth and scars upon her skin, and that joyous intimacy was theirs and theirs alone.
Primrose's dance soon began to slow, and she finished with a flourish of her red dress, catching shimmering flakes of snow. The crowd applauded as she bowed, as did Ophilia, and a faint, warm smile came upon Primrose's lips. There was no malice in the gazes of those who watched her now, no possessive desires or manipulation. As the crowd dispersed, Ophilia dashed forward, and Primrose's smile grew wider. "Ah, Ophilia," she greeted. "I was hoping to see you."
"That was beautiful!" Ophilia exclaimed, breathless. "I've always loved to watch you dance, and these days you seem so much… happier," she finished clumsily.
Yet Primrose only chuckled softly. "You certainly have that effect on others. Your sister seems happier as well."
Primrose was right, Lianna too had begun to smile again, and since settling down in Flamesgrace, Primrose and her had become close friends. Ophilia reached for Primrose's hands, and noticed how cold they had grown. "Primrose…" she said, and her heart had begun to race. A deep blush came upon her cheeks, and she pressed a quick kiss to Primrose's lips.
A faint smile graced Primrose's lovely face as their lips parted. "Well, that's certainly a way to show your appreciation." She laughed again, and then shivered. "Though, perhaps we should return indoors before we freeze."
"May the Sacred Flame keeps us warm," Ophilia said, linking her arm with Primrose's.
"Oh, I'm sure you'll keep me warm enough too," Primrose replied with a playful wink, and Ophilia's blush deepened. Yet still she smiled, and her hand found rest in Primrose's warm fingers.
