Chapter Text
Akari sprinted out of Jubilife High and swiftly pulled on her headphones. They were brand new, and her latest obsession. Akari was planning on customizing them the moment she got home with stickers and markers. But for now, they were as white as snow. Her sprint progressed into a run, she was eager to get home to Oshawott and to get away from the cliques and pressure of school. Running was likely a bad idea with music blaring at much over half the max volume, because the noise completely drowned out a warning to slow down. Akari slammed into another Jubilife uniformed student, knocking her down as well as her headphones off her head.
"Arceus, are you okay? How many fingers?" the young boy asked in a panic.
"Three," Akari murmured. She suddenly sat up. Her headphones! Her brand new headphones! Her brand new headphones without a single fricking scratch!
Akari started feeling around on the ground for them, before she spotted the boy holding two identical sets of headphones.
"Glad you're feeling better," he said with a slight smile. A really adorable smile, she noticed. "I guess we have the same headphones, yeah? Can you check to see if this one is yours?"
Akari slipped the headphones over her ears. If only she had already customized them, she wouldn't be in this awkward situation.
The familiar sound of her favorite song, by her favorite group, flooded through her mind. These had to be hers.
"These are definetly mine," she said. "Sorry for bumping into you," she said, embarrassed.
"Don't worry about it," he replied. "What's your name?"
He held out a hand to help her off the ground, which Akari accepted.
"Akari."
"I'm Rei," he said, smiling in a kind manner but with a hint of mischeif, which Akari was immediatly drawn to.
Rei's grip on her hand lasted a bit too long before they both blushed and parted ways, not knowing how this encounter would affect them in just a few short hours.
