“I just don’t get it White, why can’t I meet your parents? You’ve met mine- as well as my whole gosh darn village pretty much-! Why can’t I meet your parents?” Green said, moving their hands with their words. They’d been pushing the topic all dinner, refusing to drop it. Green was a good guy, they really were, but they weren’t very good at picking up certain social cues. Like how White was clearly uncomfortable, not making eye contact, pushing the food on their plate around rather than eating it.
Green frowned, “White, talk to me..” they said, reaching to put a hand on their partners, “Please..?”. White’s gaze stayed on their hands before meeting with the worm lovers visor. Green looked concerned and confused. White felt bad that a crewmate as sweet as Green had to deal with their own cocky attitude. Or with the fact that White could never open up. Green rubbed White’s hand with their thumb, “you know I won’t judge you,” Green smiled, reassuring White.
The rich-bean felt their visor get watery. “Green I-..” they started, hesitant, “Theres a handful of reasons- okay? Just trust me it’s best if you don’t meet them.” They said, simply wanting to drop the topic, to stop thinking about their parents. Green squeezed White’s hand, “Okay.. I trust you.. but if you do wanna talk, I’m here,” and with that, Green grabbed their empty plate and took it to the sink. Leaving White with them and their thoughts at the dining table.

White sat on their couch, glossy visor zoning out on the show on the screen. Some reality show that they’d usually be insanely invested in but their mind was preoccupied with Green. Why did Green have to be so interested in their life and not only care about their money like all White’s past partners.. They let out a sigh. “Something wrong hon?” The former worm farmer said from behind White. White let out a little ‘eep!’ before turning around to see Green. “Oh uhm— yeah, just fine,” they said, lying right throught their teeth. Green frowned (??) before sitting next to White, “White, we promised to be more honest with eachother,” they said, grabbing hold of their partners hands.
Right.. honesty.. the truth… White looked up at Green, taking a breath. “I uhm..” gosh why did this have to be so difficult? “Me and my parents aren’t on the best terms.. That’s why I don’t want you to meet them..” . White paused abruptly, almost like there was more they had to say. Green squeezed White’s hands, “Thank you, for telling me. You know you can always talk to me..” they smiled softly. White looked at their hands before turning to Green again, “I uhm.. I’m sorry that I don’t.. talk to you like this often.. I’m not used to it.. Growing up, my parents would just give me something, while they were off doing whatever. I was alone alot, or with nannies, so I’m not used to the whole.. ‘communicating’ thing..” White felt so uncomfortable talking like this, but once done they felt lighter. It felt so.. relieving. They weren’t sure why but they felt tears pooling in their visor, “I-I’m sorry Greenie— I’m sorry I’m not.. normal..”.
Green hugged White tightly, “It’s okay,” they said, gently rubbing their partners back. White hugged Green back, “I don’t know what’s gotten into me—“ They said through tears, “I’m sorry,”. Green hugged White throughout their emotional break down.. holding onto them until their sobs dimmed down to cries, and their cries dimmed down to sniffles. Once White was calm Green pulled away, placing a hand on their damp cheek, wiping any tears that still fell. White leaned into the touch, shutting their visor. “It’s okay to feel things y’know?.. I’m sorry that your parents taught you otherwise,” Green said, tone comforting.
White opened their visor back up. “Thank you Greenie..” They mumbled softly before their visor blinked closed again. Green smiled, “Do you wanna head up to the room?” They asked, taking note of how tired White became. White pushed Green down, making them lay on the couch. White than proceeded to lay ontop of Green. “Nah.. ‘m too comfy..” Their words slightly slurred from tiredness. Green chuckled slightly, “Couch it is than,”.
