Chapter Text
BTW no ships!!!
Riddle always seemed more oblivious to things on his right side, yet he still was abnormally observant. Honestly what else did he expect? It's THE Riddle Rosehearts, the Queen of Hearslabyul. anything less than perfection was treated like a war crime in the red haired boys eyes anyways. (he'd prolly get skinned alive or something by the piece of shit he calls his mother.)
He'd never look to his right without turning his entire head, even if it seemed ridiculously simple just to glance sideways. Jamil had always chalked it up to the fact it was forced habit to turn his head the entire way. The question of "why" was stuck in his head throughout the day, I mean there were always some anomalies about Riddle, his body language was almost like he's always hiding some fact about him every second since the day he was born.
Riddle's eyes have always looked dead inside, they were this beautiful grey like the occasional overcast clouds that blanketed the Asim household every so often. Gorgeous in every way but the way he'd just get that blank look once in a while, its like his eyes just locks into whatever he's doing.
During a second year hangout Riddle just sat down and started writing mechanically, the pen scratching against the paper gave a calm background noise to the mindless chatter and bantering happening. Around 5 minutes into his writing, something odd happened - his body seemingly locked into place, his arm was the only thing that was moving due to his writing and the occasional page turn. The sovereign's left eye from what Jamil could see was looking suspiciously far to his right, almost too far...
The question came rushing back to Jamil again, why does he only seem to use his left eye? Unless he was blind there this whole time, but there's no way right? He would of mentioned it in passing conversation or at least have warned a faculty member.
Disabled students are actually accommodated quite well at NRC despite the incompetent asshat we call our headmage, if Riddle were in fact blind in his right eye he should be taking specialized magic exams and not permitted to be in dangerous situations (as often - cmon it's Crowley 😒). Though if anyone knew Riddle in any way shape or form he'd always outclass anyone he was put against, he was first in year for a reason. Why would such a formidable opponent do such a thing as to setback himself in such way?
Hell! Riddle should have gotten a Night Raven Issued eye patch of some sort by now! Maybe he was thinking too hard about something so trivial, Maybe Riddle wasn't even blind maybe Jamil was just over reacting, yeah, just over reacting! (goodness sake he sounded so much like Kalim, how does one even sound like someone in their head?!?)
He should really go to sleep the drowsiness was catching up to him.
