Chapter Text
I woke up to my alarm at 5:30 for orientation i made it into a college some how even though my grades where atrocious. I went to inhale through my nose to realize it's clogged I sat up and swallowed, my throat burned not from a heat but a pain. Do to my clogged nose my throat has been filled with mucus making me cough, what a great first day this will be I thought. Standing up I walked to the shower and looked in the mirror looking at my paler than usual face and thought yep I'm in hell now.
Grabbing a white hoodie with black cargo pants abbie would walk back to his shower and turn in the water. after a minute of waiting for the water to heat up he would step in letting the hot water go across his skin down he washed his body while shaking his legs weak from being sick.
"What the hell did i catch it's not even flu season" I thought to my self as the water barraged my scalp a pain in and or around my eyes became evident. I thought back to what I did yesterday and remembered a heavy rain during particularly cold evening as I was walking and it clicked.
Abbie had in all of his stupid glory self diagnosed a severe cold and decided that he would get coffee and cough drops before 8:30. Which was easier said then done since after cleaning himself and brushing his teeth alongside the rest of his morning routine he saw on the clock it was 6:30. His school was a hour drive away so he grabbed a face mask to show so decency to other and clumsily fell down his stairs. A pop and a Crack could be heard as he stood up his leg buckled applying pressure hurt and his head was ringing luckily the pain subsided after 15 minutes of mental swears and pained grunts.
Standing up abbie grabbed his key chain and left driving 15 minutes to a dollar store picking up some cherry cough drops and stopping at a random locally known coffee shop ordering a medium coffee. His order was:
3tspn of French vanilla creamer.
2 tspn of sugar.
A half a tspn of cinnamon.
And some whipped cream.
After finally reaching the university he was still torn between choosing a major of Botany and library siceince and partially thought why not doing both although students with more majors typically had a lower graduation rate he thought why not try it. It's not like he has much people to impress his mother was just glad he was going and his friends where happy they got into the same school over all that's just a handful of people.
And all of a sudden while walking up the steps 3 familiar voices assaulted his ears. Great he thought the 3 bullies also ended up in the same university he was honestly shocked that all 3 made it into university Edward was a given, zip even though she seemed empty upstairs was really good at math, and Oliver was Oliver. Abbie sped up his knee starting to hurt from the earlier fall making it inside the building and checking in at the front desk, he opened his phone and saw a small group chat of him, Claire, Engel, and Lana all discussed where to sit during orientation.
I walked into the auditorium with a little hope just for that to get crushed seeing a row above where we we're going to sit being occupied by the bully trio. Abbie sighed and sit down with in 20 seconds Edward already made a stupid comment. After listening to an ear blistering sling of petty insults from Edward engel proposes we move seats, unfortunately we can't do to the rest being full or not in groups of five. Give or take 2 hours later at 10:30 we where let out of the auditorium after receiving maps and a link to our emails to pick our classes. I walked away towards the parking lot before the trio showed up not wanting to hear Edward or Oliver's voices. Then I heard Claire speak up about a party post on Social media for a college party, before I got the chance to object most the others agreed leaving just me. Let me tell you something peer pressure is a #####, even though I normally hate parties and such I agreed because every one else was going surely nothing could go south when he has all of his friends. Next thing we knew we where all looking at the same post marking it on our calendar and writing the time for the first college party of our lives, one party wouldn't hurt maybe it could be fun. After we all decided what we where gonna do over the weekend we went our separate ways, I hoped in my car and started the engine. As I started to drive off in my rear view mirror I saw lana waving to me I clumsily waved back and was gone. After a little of driving I made it home once again alone parents still not home as usual, that is just something I have became accustomed to some times I see my mom at night here in there when I make cup noodles or something. But it's been a solid while since I've talked to them longer than 5 minutes. Maybe dorm life won't be so different for me rather than others, after all who knows and maybe if I'm lucky one of my friends will be my dorm mates. Amongst the things discussed on orientation day we had gotten a link for our classes and in a week living arrangements, we'll what ever the future and the education system has in store for me is a problem for future me.
For now I'm going to cook my lunch a cup of microwave safe instant noodles a can of soda. Yes my truly balanced diet that has never caused me problems and never will I thought with a smile. I sat on the couch turning on the TV and waited for my food to cook, seemingly hopeful about the future.
