Chapter 1: We Told You This Was Melodrama

Chapter Text

You just need to grab the knife and stab yourself. Because this is the only way to get free of the life you are living, the life they are forcing you onto. So grab the knife, stab yourself in the heart, and no one will realize you did it because no one is at home. No one will smell the blood. No one will come and stop you.

All you have to do is stand up. Can you push yourself from the ground, using your hands? Because that is all it takes, and the rest is glancing at the knife before stabbing yourself for saving yourself. I think you can stand up and walk to the kitchen. Because death is a peaceful option.

Yes, just like that. I am proud of you. Now you are standing even though what you are feeling is dizziness. Now walk to the kitchen. Let one feeling consume you. You really deserve a better life than this. So you are searching it in your death, I assure you, Elena, death is a beautiful peace to feel for the ones like us who were forced to give up on their lives.

two months ago, New orleans

Elena was terrified because she was not sure where she was. All she remembered was the smell of blood. Even her human nose could catch the smell. She looked around. This was not a place she wanted to be, she could tell.

It was terrifying her to think about what she was going to go through. Elena wanted to smile. That was what she would always do. But her smiley face turned and burst into tears. She felt like she wanted to scream. "Oh, look who is awake,"

Elena's head turned to the direction of the voice. She gulped with the face she recognized, the face she knew so well, but she always wished she had never. His smirk was kind of twisted, it always was. "You look confused."

"I am," She admitted. She did nothing to him. So why was she there, she could not say. She gulped and looked at his smirk, becoming more and more obvious. "I need your service, or your blood to be precise,"

"For what?" Elena gulped. It was not possible for him to know, was it? It was why her and Elijah were running, Elijah! Was he alright? Her remaining filled with fear and sadness. "You know why, love?"

"Where is Elijah?" Her voice was confident. She looked at him directly in the eyes, and he let out a laugh. "Ahh! Your boyfriend, my backstabbing brother. " Elena shook her head. He was not her boyfriend. They had never been romantically involved. Nor they wanted to, what they wanted was to be there for each other, and Elena could say Elijah was the closest thing she had as a brother after Jeremy. "Oh, he is dead," Elena's breath hitched. She shook her head and looked around, hoping Elijah would enter the room. "No, no, no!"

Her screams made him frown, but he let his smirk mask his jealousy. "Don't worry, love, society has so many Elijah's for you to date with." Elena closed her eyes. How could he make a joke about it? Was he really dead, or was Klaus just trying to unnerve her? "He can't be, no!"

"That is enough reaction you've made. Let's start, shall we?" Elena shook her head, but she was not in a place to fight him. He easily grabbed her before putting the needle into her left arm. "Seems so, even Elijah's protection was not enough. What a shame he had to die, all because of his lover -"

"We were not lovers!" She screamed and looked at her hands before trying to get free of the ropes. "But how can you know? Have you ever felt a decent feeling about a being, like caring without a reason, just because they are someone's child?" He looked at her with well faked confusion and shrugged. "No, I don't think so, sweetheart."

Elena watched as her blood filled the blood bags. She hated how she was drinking a little cup of vampire blood after every blood bag. She hated the way it tasted so sour. She hated how it burned her throat.

She hated everything was going to happen to her, and she was not sure how to end it all. At least she did not, not two months ago, not when she finally thought she found her ticket to leave this mess.

All she could hope was Elijah was alive. All she wanted to hear was Elijah being alive. Otherwise, she would lose her mind because he really wanted to create a future for her. Maybe it was all due to guilt, but they had an understanding, and it meant everything to Elena.
