The mission was supposed to be simple. Kill Rui Kamishiro.
Unfortunately, Rui was hot.
Tsukasa was watching Rui from outside his target's house, sitting in a nearby tree. A gun sat near him. The window was open. It would be so easy to just shoot.
Rui was hunched over at his desk, scribbling away at a blueprint. His hair was a mess.
Tsukasa couldn't even focus on his assignment with the way Rui looked.
"Keep it together," He thought. His hand didn't move.
Rui happened to glance up at that moment. "Hello there!" He called out, waving.
Tsukasa nearly fell out of the tree. "Ah-! Hello there!"
Rui stood up, walking over to the window. "Tree climbing enthusiast, I see? Mind if I join you?"
Tsukasa quickly nodded, hiding the gun under his jacket. Probably a dumb choice, if he accidentally set it off. "Of course! I would love to!"
"I'll be there in a second." Rui stood up, and a couple minutes later, was beside Tsukasa in the tree. "I'm Rui. You are...?"
"Tsukasa Tenma!" He immediately regretted saying that. It might give away his identity.
"Tsukasa?" Rui thought. "We went to high school together, right?"
"...You're THAT RUI?!" Tsukasa's eyes widened. Twenty years. Twenty years since he had last seen Rui. He looked so different.
But Tsukasa couldn't have been happier. "Ruiiiii!" He tackled Rui in a hug, almost knocking them both out of the tree. "I can't believe it! How did you remember me?"
Rui shrugged. "Never really stopped thinking about you. Too bad our troupe didn't really go anywhere..."
"I'm sure you're a star director now, right?"
"No. Engineer. It's not too bad, though." Rui gently pushed Tsukasa off of him, and sat up. "What about you? An actor, I assume?"
"...I...I write songs! Yes! Of course!" Tsukasa laughed. Trying to act casual. He couldn't exactly outright say he was an assassin.
How did he even get to this point?
It was just a loan for college. A loan from the wrong people.
Now he killed people for a living.
Rui smiled. "I'm sure you're really good at it." He thought for a moment, and then added, "Would you like to go to dinner with me? Catch up with each other."
"Yes! Absolutely!" Tsukasa began to climb out of the tree. "Let's go, dear Rui!"
"You haven't changed a bit."
"You have no idea!"
