Chapter 1: In Static

Chapter Text

Teto vacantly stared at the promotional poster that laid on one of her producer's desks from the TV across the room, pressing her face against the screen to get a better look.

"NEW TETO-TASTIC EPISODE PREMIERING IN 10 MINUTES!" It read in big, bold letters on top and the bottom on a green background.

Of course, Teto herself had to be in the center of it all.

Carrying that signature smile and excited look in her eyes without a care in the world while holding her hand out to the viewer, eagerly waiting to take them into her colorful world.

A small hiss came out of Teto's mouth before turning her back, just to not to look at the person the masses "know" and love today.

She didn't want to do this anymore.

Every new season that premieres was a part of Teto's original self beginning to fade away. But her team didn't care. They didn't care about her at all. All they want is to pump out new episodes of everyone's favorite childhood show.

And slowly but surely, there was nothing but a shell of her former self who serves one purpose: To entertain.

Forever and ever.

A small sniffle escaped her lips as tears began to trail off her cheeks and onto her gray dress. And there was nothing Teto could do to prevent herself from sobbing.

She sat on the cold, dark floor, with her knees hugged towards her body. Her breaths came in frantic, short bouts since she was not only choking on her tears but her chest constricted, making it harder for her to breathe. Her heart drummed as Teto tried to calm herself down to no avail. The panicked sobs and the sound of tinnitus ringing in her nonexistent ears were the only things she can focus on.

But all she was left with now was the darkness of the void and her own despair and she was just waiting for something, anything to help her out of her misery.

Then.

A flash of vibrant colors filled the entire screen and the sounds of eager children cheering on her name. Teto froze, her mind frantically scrambling to try and process what just happened. It was until she turned her head around to see the sight of many, many eyes on her.
