Chapter Text
Asriel sat in the Holiday Manor unsure of what to do with himself. His parents had dragged him here, against HIS will, and expected him to make nice with some random girl just because his mom knows her mom and his dad knows her dad. It made no sense to him. As he sat on the couch he swirled his eggnog in his cup, mimicking what Carol and Toriel were doing with their drinks out of pure boredom. His tolerance for boredom was about as high as it could go when he was surprised by a sudden noise.
He nearly spilled his nog all over the couch when his concentration was so rudely interrupted by the sound of a robotic Santa shouting, “ho-ho-ho!”
When he turned around to look at where the noise he saw standing right next to the santa was a deer monster. Her antlers were just like her mothers but a slightly darker blue besides that and her hair, she was a spitting image of her father. She had tried sneaking past him with a chocolate bar hung half out of her mouth. They stared at each other as she slowly ate the bar before the Santa was abruptly shut off.
“Oh! I see you’ve met Asriel. December, why don't you show him to your room? The grown-ups want to have a little alone time.” She smiled but her voice was cold as ice.
“But moooooommmmm!!!”
“No buts! Be polite and show him around.”
December mumbled something before quickly walking away and stomping up the stairs. Asriel sat his eggnog down cautiously before standing up and following December up the stairs and into her room.
When he entered, it wasn’t at all what he had come to expect in the house. It was completely devoid of any Christmas colors and decor. The walls were painted black and the floor was a dark greenish color. Asriel welcomed the change the previous brightness of the rest of the house had begun to hurt his eyes.
December entirely ignored Asriel. She sat against her bed and began practicing on her guitar while he listened. He thought she was quite good at it but everytime he was about to compliment her playing, she mumbled something like “shit!” or “damn…” that made him think he outta wait. After some time of him just listening, he had to break the silence between them.
“So… December huh? You’re parents really aren't subtle”
“I know.”
Asriel laid on the carpet, now staring at the star covered ceiling. “Do you know why they’re so obsessed?”
“I dunno.”
“Don’t you ever wonder?”
She gently strummed her guitar while she stroke, “I guess I used to? I dunno they’ve just always been like that so it’s just normal to me now.”
“My mom’s obsessed with snails. Or she used to be. I don’t know if she still is anymore.”
Dess stopped her strumming and gagged. “Snails??? Oh my god that's gross!”
Asriel sat up and scooted closer to her. “Have you ever had to have snail pie for dessert? Escargo for lunch?”
“Stop, I'm going to puke, that's so… weird!” She giggled as she spoke
“Is it really any weirder than having eggnog in the middle of June?”
December broke out into a fit of laughter and snorts at their embarrassing families. They continued to talk for quite some time. Trading stories about their embarrassing families for what felt like hours. At some point in the night, Asriel had moved himself to be right next to December. They had been silent for a bit, so December decided to break the silence.
“Whats it like having a human sibling.”
“Well… I dunno how to explain it. Probably the same as having a monster sibling.”
“Yeah but… they’re a human.”
Asriel glared at December, “Why does that matter?”
“They’re just so different from us!”
“Not in any way that really matters. That's what mom says at least.”
“Thats just… interesting.”
“I don’t see why it is.”
December strummed her guitar awkwardly. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to hit a nerve like that. They seem like good kid. Although they do tease Noelle a lot.”
“I think its their way of showing they like you. Teasing, I mean.”
They sat in silence once more. Asriel just listened to December strumming her guitar. He would occasionally recognize songs she was playing bits of. It was mostly themes from Dragon Blazers from what he could tell.
As she continued to play her guitar, she felt something soft fall against her shoulder followed by the sound of quiet snoring. She very carefully looked to her side and saw Asriel had passed out and was now using her arm as a pillow. She hadn’t noticed how fluffy He was before. She reached out a hand, slowly approaching the fur on the top of his head. She did a quick pat on his head to check if he would wake up at a touch but he was perfectly quiet.
She started to pet his head. To her, this was the fluffiest boy she could imagine. It was almost like he was made of a softer version of cashmere wool, she couldn’t help but pet him. She did it until she too fell asleep in this cloud of a monster.

Asriel blinked a couple times as he came to. He tried to let out a yawn but a weight on his head stopped him from getting his mouth fully open. Finally, Asriel fully opened his eyes and realized what he had done.
He had fallen asleep on December's shoulder.
Her head laid on his.
Her hand had fallen onto his while they slept.
After taking everything in, he turned a perfect shade of tomato red but he didn’t dare move. Didn’t dare make a noise. Didn’t dare to take a breath. He just stayed perfectly still and listened to December's breath as she slept. He found it to be oddly soothing, nearing luring him back to sleep but then he realized what he was doing and this made him even more embarrassed.
As gently as he could, he removed December's hand from his and sneakily grabbed a pillow off her bed that he could lay her head in. As he got up to go and sleep on the couch, he saw a pen and paper lying on her night stand. He wrote a quick note on it before quickly and quietly running out of her room and to the couch.
Once Asriel completely closed the door December turned beet red. She jumped onto her bed and started banging her head against her pillow.
“Stupid stupid stupid! WHY WOULD YOU FALL ASLEEP ON HIM YOURE SUCH A LOSERRRR” She yelled into her pillow. After calming down she got curious and checked the note he left. It read, “Hope your’re having good Dreemurring! :p”
She half giggled half snorted.
“Dork.”
