Summary
The first time Julian’s mother offered him as a deal-sweetener he didn’t understand what was happening.
Billy had been included in business meetings since he was fifteen, and now that Julian had reached the same age (three years later), he’d also been included. Perhaps a little naive, Julian accepted this was for the stated purpose: teaching him how the family business worked. Julian had assumed this meant his mother wanted him to learn to negotiate. That wasn’t a lie.
