Work Text:
The quad was chaotic today. Something that would not bother Enid normally if not for the difficult day she’d had so far.
First, she was late to class. Not her fault! Her girlfriend – miss I will stab you if you touch me – was cuddling up on her so comfortably they both slept in, and then she couldn’t move and disturb her because Wednesday followed cat rules of ‘if they fall asleep on you, you are required to stay there till they decide to move’. Plus, she was freaking adorable, okay!
Then, after managing to leave the dorms in a hurry, arriving to class late and facing that humiliation and embarrassment, and sitting down. Only to then realize she’d forgotten her homework so add that to the list of embarrassments.
Then, there a few accidents in chemistry that left her with a dirty outfit – one of her favorites too. And a nearly overwhelming amount of work from FOUR different classes all due in the same week, and to top everything off, she would not see Wednesday for the major of the day because she was in different classes and had to attend a bee emergency.
Which is where Enid found herself pouting in her chair, starring blankly at her lunch with little appetite as everyone around her decided today was the day for them to make as much noise as possible, and overwhelm her sensitive hearing. So yeah, she was not in the best mood, tuning in on the conversations around her table.
That was until she felt something hit the back of her head, looking behind her, she saw some furs laughing with a hand up – likely from throwing that paper ball. They made some faces in mocking too.
She was so not in the mood for this.
Enid just gave a death glare.
It sent the furs scrapping back in slight shock and fear. Enid made no comment, just kept staring and even tilted her head. They left with their tails between their legs and only then did Enid return to her lunch, though in all honesty she wasn’t going to finish it, those knuckleheads had completely ruined her appetite.
“Damn, girl…” Yoko whispered, knowing the wolf’s sensitive hearing at the moment. “You’ve been spending too much time with Wednesday, cause that glare was terrifying.
Enid shrugged. “It worked, didn’t it?” a small smile formed at the thought of her girlfriend.
Yoko thought of it, then nodded. “It did, and good for you, pup,”
“Thanks,” Enid said quietly. “I think I’m gonna go now, could you-”
“I’ll tell the teachers you weren’t feeling well, don’t worry, I got you. Just go back to your dorm and rest, you need it,”
Enid hummed, getting up and leaving.
Later, she would spend the night cuddling Wednesday, who held her tightly, feeling relieved that the day was over.
Meanwhile, a few students gossiped on Enid’s ‘Wednesday stare’. Somehow, she was scarier than the goth.
“Howdie Roomie!” Says Enid. The first time she saw Wednesday and greeted her. The second was after the Harvest festival.
“Howdie Pilgrims.” Says Wednesday to the normie boys bullying Eugene. The second was to Crackstone.
“Howdie Roomie!” Says Enid as she greats Wednesday, music playing and the wolf pack causing a ruckus in their room. Her eyes were so pretty, Enid had thought as she said her name.
“Howdie roomie,” Says Wednesday to the now human Enid, dirty and naked, but human and alive. A small smile on her lips at the sight of her friend after months of searching.
Usually when Wednesday would be called to the principle’s office, it would be because of some incredible danger she had put herself in while investigating or getting into trouble breaking the rules for said investigation. Or because some idiot decided to test her patients and she was being reprimanded for her much justified actions. (Or they insulted Enid, which only proves her point)
This was not one of those cases. Unfortunately. Someone was in trouble, but not her, no it was Agnes. Apparently she punched a student who was being homophobic about her and Enid, and rude, Agnes would add cheekily. Who now sat in the principle’s office, hands crossed and failing to look one bit innocent.
Wednesday stood by her, standing with her hands crossed in front of her, face stoic as always as she listened to the details. (And attempting to hide twitch of her lip).
The principle, an old vampire by the name of Tabitha, sat opposite them. She was professional woman, strict when needed, but understanding, nonetheless. She was full of outcast pride and love for the students, though not unwilling to talk and deal with normies. Certainly, an upgrade from conman Barry Dort.
“I must say, miss Addams,” She began, looking at Wednesday through her dark sunglasses. “I’ve seen many things in my short time as principle surprisingly. Fights, cheating, weird rumors turned warfare, and many of your antics, I was not expecting miss DeMille to be the source of it this time.”
“She learned from the best.” Wednesday said, dryly, noting Agnes’ small smile at the comment.
“I see that.” she said, a bit of sarcasm in her voice. “Never thought I’d call another student to come in as a parent stand-in for another student, yet here we are,” she muttered.
Upon turning 18, Wednesday and Enid had become Agnes’ legal guardians after a falling out with the girl’s useless birth parents. Admittedly it was an accident, but no one cares. Point is, if something concerns Agnes, either Wednesday or Enid are called to the scene.
“Right,” said Tabitha, clasping her hands together. “For your rush actions, you’ll receive a whole week of detention as well as restricted Jericho visits that will need to be approved by me or staff. Understood?”
Wednesday resisted the roll of her eyes as she and Agnes nodded.
“Great then, you’re dismissed.”
With that, they left.
Principle Tabitha sat back in her chair. Barely a month in, she’d already become accustomed to Addams’ shenanigans and everything, along with miss Sinclair (and DeMille) who followed her everywhere. Sunshine incarnated walking with a grumpy dark cloud. Many would raise their eyebrows at that odd combination. They worked well despite it all. Though the thought did cross her mind with how Wednesday’s crossed hands reminded her a lot of Enid Sinclair’s, when she was standing up and talking her hands were often crossed behind her back though on rare occasions they would be crossed at her front. She chuckled at this, those two were opposites indeed yet resembled each other on other aspects and mannerisms.
Wednesday was somewhat proud of Agnes, though she would not admit out loud. “Not too sloppy of handiwork, we do need to improve concealing your crimes.”
However, Enid was certainly not pleased.
