Work Text:
Quackity whistled as he walked down the path, happily basking in the afternoon sun. He was nearly finished with Las Nevadas, and he was happy with how it was coming along.
Bright, shiny, and utterly unforgettable.
He spread his arms out at the thought of it, his wings fluttering in the daylight and flashing a stunning gold. He smiled. His own country, one he could give to Karl and Sapnap. He was sure they would be excited.
He made his way back to their shared home in El rapids, just as Karl came walking up the path.
“Quackity! I was looking for you see- wait, what was I supposed to tell you?”
“I don’t really know Karl. Do you feel okay?”
Karl thought for a second, trying to dredge up memories, Quackity presumed. He furrowed his brow as Karl couldn’t seem to recall what he had been trying to say.
He was about to question if his fiancee was okay again when Karl snapped his fingers. “Me, Sapnap, and George created a new kingdom! It’s called Kinoko. We all wanted you to join!”
Karl looked so proud of himself for remembering and Quackity smiled at them. “Of course I’ll join you and Sapnap, mi amor.”
He let Karl take his hand and take the path to where Quackity presumed this ‘Kinoko Kingdom’ was. Their eyes sparkled and they talked endlessly as they crossed the grass. They talked about how they were scared that they has nearly forgotten to tell Quackity about their new settlement.
Quackity had also been secretly worried about that as well, though they tried their best to pretend it didn’t scare them a little. He wondered what would’ve happened if karl had truly forgotten, if Quackity hadn’t run into them in time.
What would he have thought if he had arrived back at El Rapids to an empty house. Would his heart have truly been broken? He imagined it would be.
He knew what his thought process would look like. His spirals, his backwards progress into destructive, manic behaviour.
He gulped and refocused his mind back onto the route they were taking. If he wanted to show his fiancee’s, his loves, Las Nevadas, he would need to know how to get back there after all.
They approached the entrance to Kinoko and Quackity was stunned still. A beautiful mushroom land, straight out of a fairytale lay before him. An expanse of fantastical houses and beautiful scenery.
He was beyond words as Karl lead him to their new home, exclaiming about all the different things their house would contain.
Apparently there was a library under the house deep inside the basement, and Quackity smiled to himself. He knew how much Karl loved his books, how he poured all of his time and effort into gaining more knowledge.
He loved how they would get into rants about a new topic they had discovered, only getting cut off by a sudden display of affection by Sapnap, their resident hothead, a big fan of physical contact.
But it seemed they had changed their love language, just for Quackity, as they finally approached the steps.
Karl opened the door in a burst of energy and there he was.
“Heyy, cabecilla.”
Sapnap looked confused for a second, tilting his head to the side in a way that oddly reminded Quackity of a puppy.
“Are you going to tell me what that means?”
Quackity debated it in his head for a second, thinking about whether it would be funnier to let the man guess or to just tell him.
He finally relented. “Cabecilla, it means leader, most commonly a gang leader or mob boss, anything that involves criminal activityyyy,” he proclaimed in a singsong.
“Why?” Sapnap asked in exasperation, but his mouth twitched up ever so slightly at the corners and Quackity knew that they were enjoying his antics.
“You, George and Karl,” Quackity gestured emphatically to Karl, the cheeky bastard, who giggled a little and played along, waving at Sapnap, “Made an entire kingdom without me. Don’t even try to deny it, you were a main instigator. I can’t believe you would betray me so. El Rapiddds.”
At the end of his little speech Quackity placed a hand over his heart with a flourish and proceeded to pretend faint into Karl’s arms.
Since Karl was a twig of a human being they both crashed into the ground with an oomph. Quackity was very offended that Karl had to ruin his dramatic moment. Very offended. Seriously.
Sapnap just laughed and Quackity absolutely adored it when he did. His entire face scrunched up, as if he was trying to hide it or something, before he ultimately failed and it relaxed again. His smile overtook his face in a sappy grin and his eyes sparkled, like stars against a midnight sky.
Stunning.
Call Quackity a simp, but there was nothing he loved better than that laugh, it was why he often overplayed his already overdramatic tendencies.
The best part was when he was so happy he cried, he never did so when he was sad, so Quackity always looked forward to Sapnap crying.
Wait, that was kind of weird, rephrasing that.
When Sapnap cried, it was always a joyous occasion, something that Quackity and others on this server had so little of. Like when they had become fiancee’s or when they had first started dating.
Quackity adored them. He really did.
When they had all calmed down (it took a while because something would always set them off again), Sapnap spoke.
“In all honesty, there were a few reasons why we built Kinoko.”
Quackity nodded from his place lying on Sapnap’s lap, both of them had flopped onto the couch with Karl. His head rested on Sapnap’s upper thigh as Sapnap’s hand brushed lazily through Quackity’s hair.
“Go on, mi amor.”
“We felt that El Rapids had stagnated a little, and that’s why we left. But, I kind of also wanted a change of scenery.”
Quackity flopped fully onto the couch and stood up in confusion. Sapnap had stood up displacing all of them, something they never did because they wanted to spend as much time touching the people he loved as possible.
Karl was sat beside Quackity, looking as confused as they both felt. Quackity already had a feeling that he knew what was going to happen.
Then Sapnap got on one knee, a ring box in his hand containing two rings. He smiled derpily, “Would you two make me the happiest man ever?”
Karl chuckled, “How cliche’, of course Sapnap. I accept.”
Kael was playing it cool, but the stars in his eyes fooled no one.
“You’re gonna have to change that proposal to ‘second happiest man in the world’ sappity nappity,” Quackity joked, “because I far outrank you in terms of happiness.”
He gently removed the ring from its setting of velvet, before he realised. “Wait a second, we’re already fiancee’s.”
“Well yeah, but Karl stole my proposal so I had to do it.”
“Wait, so all three of us are going to propose at different times to ultimately achieve the same goal?”
“Yes- wait, all three of us?”
