Work Text:

Flame had just won a fight with Wemmbu. He took his time heading back to his base and fixing his gear. He thought about Wemmbu as he cleaned his sword, his sweet Wemmbu. He thought Wem hated him; he probably did, with how he would look at Flame. He could only fantasize about being with the younger man; about having Wemmbu in his bed, living with him, eating meals at the same table as him…

But Flame would only look at Wemmbu with adoration, always trying to hide it from the shorter man. Flame loved the purple long hair, how it looked after a battle with dirt and blood in it. He loved Wem’s style. Eager to see the man's newest outfit. He was head over heels for Wem.

A thud against his window jolted him out of his thoughts. He turned his head, seeing a familiar purple head bent down, probably picking up another rock to throw at his window. He went to his front door, opening it as he leaned against the door frame.

“What are you doing?” Flame spoke with an annoyed tone. He wasn't gonna let Wemmbu know how excited he was to see the younger man.

Wemmbu had quickly stood up when he heard the door; he frowned. “I can't visit a friend?”

Flame smirked slightly when Wemmbu called him a ‘friend’. “We are friends now? Weren't you insulting me about an hour ago?”

“Well, I can forgive and forget.”

“Right.” Flame walked towards him, watching as Wemmbu stepped back a bit. He looked down a bit to look into Wemmbu’s eyes. The pretty eyes that he rarely got to see up close. He studies the mascara on his lashes before Wemmbu finally spoke.

“What are you doing, weirdo?” He took a step back as he said that. Crossing his arms as he slightly pouted.

Flame put his hands in his pockets, watching the purple man start to act angry with him. “I'm just standing here, bro.”

Wemmbu furrowed his brows at Flame’s words. He scoffed, turned away, and began to walk away. Flame’s eyes traveled down as he watched Wemmbu walk away. His eyes darted back up after enjoying the sight for a minute. “Where are we going?”

“There is no we!” Wemmbu yelled back, trying to speed up. He felt Flame’s eyes on him and debated turning around to see his expression.

Flame then put his hand on Wemmbu’s shoulder, stopping him from continuing. Wemmbu whipped his head around to see Flamefrags right behind him. His hands balled into fists as a scowl appeared on his face.

“Wem… could we talk for a minute?”

The sudden shift in Flame’s voice left Wemmbu a bit puzzled. He turned around, fully facing Flame, walking back to put distance between them. Flame’s hand falling off his shoulder; his shoulder a bit cold now with the loss of the hand.

“What?” Wemmbu folded his arms again.

“Uh, well… nothing, nothing-” Flame spoke quickly as he whipped around and headed back inside. Leaving Wemmbu alone. He quickly shut the door, leaning on it as his mind raced.

Flame sank to the floor as he thought about what he had tried to tell Wemmbu less than a minute ago. Thought about how the younger man was probably still there, Wemmbu saw Flame get flustered and rush back inside like he wasn't just acting tough 10 minutes ago.

He heard a knock at the door and a quiet voice. “Flame? What happened?”

“Nothing..” Flame mumbled. He heard more knocks on the door he was sitting against. Wemmbu seemed to have an idea of what happened, but he didn't know why. Flame couldn't tell him what he was trying to say.

“We could talk about it, you know?” Wemmbu tried to coax Flame to chat with him.

“I don't know Wem…” Flame hid his face in his hands.

Wemmbu’s hand found the handle, turning it a bit to see if it was locked or not; it wasn't. “Can I open the door?”

“Uhm, yeah sure…” Flame agreed as he got up to sit on the couch instead.

Wemmbu opened the door a bit to see Flame before slipping inside, closing the door behind him. “What was that about?” He asked, wanting to know what Flame had been trying to say before.

Flame tensed up at the mention of his attempt to tell Wemmbu his feelings. “It was nothing important.” He mumbled again.

Wemmbu raised an eyebrow as he leaned against the door. “Didn't really seem like anything important.”

Flame looked away. “I have feelings for you, Wem…” He muttered. Scared of Wemmbu’s answer.

He paused after hearing Flame’s words. He was expecting everything but that. He was probably a bit blind to the signs of how Flame was around Wemmbu. Never fully thinking too deeply into how Flame never went too far when he fought Wemmbu. He thought they were rivals, rivals who were occasionally friendly to each other.

“Flame… you're not lying?” He got off the door, stepping towards Flame, who had just turned a bit to look at him.

“Not lying. I do like you, Wemmbu…” Flame spoke a bit more normally, not upset at Wemmbu’s reaction since it didn't seem like he was disgusted or anything similar.

Wemmbu chuckled a bit as he sat next to Flame, putting a small hand on Flame’s hand. “You love me, huh?” Wemmbu smiled at Flame, who only blushed.

Flame leaned forwards, lips brushing against the other’s. He put a hand behind Wem as he pulled them together into the kiss.

Wemmbu only pulled back after running out of air, a content smile on his face as he looked at Flame.

“I love you, Wem.” Flame quietly said, enough for Wemmbu to catch.

“I love you too, Flame.”
