Male calicos can't do that!

Summary:

Again, being a cat hybrid is cool.

But maybe certain cat should learn a little more about his own species.

Notes:

If you haven't, go read the first part!
It's not like 100% necesary to enjoy this one I think, but I'm pretty sure it'd make more sense that way.

And now, enjoy!

Work Text:

Unfortunately for Hongjoong, he and Seonghwa had to go home earlier than they initially intended.

He had planned an aquarium date with dinner after for him and his human boyfriend.

They had spent weeks wanting to go out for a romantic date and never found the time for it, and of course, the one time they finally did, Wooyoung called almost crying because apparently San was feeling sick —again— and he didn't know where the medicines were stored.

Hongjoong was about to have a meltdown because 'ever since those two little shits came home I barely spend time alone with you'. Seonghwa, bless his heart, talked him out of it and reassured his boyfriend multiple times that he was truly okay with a movie night and takeout, they at least got to enjoy the aquarium.

He knew the other was just itching to go back home and check that Wooyoung didn't mess his neatly organized medicine cabinet —and probably everywhere else he might have searched too— but he received headpats and got his entire face covered in kisses, a win is a win.

So, 20 minutes after the call with the distressed hybrid ended, they were standing outside their own door, hand in hand. They looked at eachother in silence, sighed and opened the door, bracing themselves for whatever they would find inside.

Luckily for Seonghwa, the house remained intact, Wooyoung barely messed up the kitchen. But not even two seconds after stepping inside, they got hit with the muffled sound of someone vomiting in the bathroom —San, probably.

Wooyoung's head popped up on the living room quickly, eyes teary and ears dropped in silent apology for ruining their date. Yeah, you better feel bad.

Another silent look exchanged between the couple and they finally separated, defeated, but not before Seonghwa kissed his cheek sweetly, a promise that they would continue their date soon.

He patted Seonghwa's behind as the older went to the bathroom, earning a light giggle at his antics.

With Seonghwa gone to the bathroom to take care of San, he and Wooyoung were left standing awkwardly in the living room, Hongjoong still by the door and Wooyoung on the other side, still carrying a pityful look and playing with his tail, a nervous habit he picked up recently.

"Come here, Youngie," he said with a deep sigh, moving to sit down on the couch and gesturing the other to follow.

Wooyoung complied, sitting side by side on the worn down couch, bringing his knees up to hug them.

They sat in silence for a couple minutes, hearing San still throwing up from time to time and Seonghwa murmuring comforting words, the sound muffled by the closed door, at least someone got privacy here.

"So… Are you okay?"

Great Hongjoong, great starter.

Wooyoung looked up at him, a deeply offended look painting his features and tail flicking in annoyance. "I'm not the one currently dying, go ask Sannie."

"Oh come on, don't be dramatic," he laughed lightly, patting the other's leg, trying his best to alleviate the charged air surrounding them.

The black hybrid pouted but didn't look as offended anymore. "Sorry, I'm just worried…"

Hongjoong shifted to look directly at him, resting his hand on top of his head.

"He ate 3 cans of expired cat food the other day, of course he got an upset stomach, but he'll be fine again in no time, okay?"

Some habits died hard.

They had plenty of food and Seonghwa checked expiration dates religiously on his monthly deep cleaning, but after the rough life the two hybrid had to endure before meeting the couple, there were some things that they couldn't get rid off.

Like San's habit on stashing food cans under the bed 'just in case there's an emergency', even hissing at Seonghwa every time he tried to take those cans back to the kitchen. Those fights were honestly impressive, the only time you could hear them raising their voices at eachother.

And that's how he found himself sick, all because he decided to be stubborn and prove that his (expired) food stash could be useful, eating it in human form, which for San's surprise, proved to be a terrible idea.

While Hongjoong was deep in his own thoughts, Wooyoung had moved, now holding onto the eldest's shirt like a lifeline and pressing his head harder against his hand for comfort, murmuring something he didn't catch.

"hm?"

"I said," he paused and took a breath. "What if he's pregnant?"

What?

"What the fuck, Wooyoung-ah?"

All he could do was squint at the hybrid like it had suddenly grown another head, making a genuine effort to try to understand this nonsense to no avail.

What?

"T-think about it!" Wooyoung tried to defend his bullshit, like it would instantly make it made sense, right.

"Youngie, can you-" he had to stop to take a breath, he should've gone to the bathroom with San and leave Seonghwa to deal with Wooyoung. "Could you explain yourself instead of telling me to think about it?"

At some point during his internal fight with common sense, Wooyoung had started crying again. He looked like a pitiful wet sad kitten by now.

With an ungraceful sniffle, Wooyoung finally met his eyes.

"You know how pregnant people get morning sickness?"

A small and slow nod. "…yeah?"

"San has been sick for days now, I-I don't think it's the food anymore..."

Wow.

Just, wow.

Hongjoong could only look at him incredulously, mouth agape, holding him by the shoulders now, more for his own sake than Wooyoung's.

okay, so… Since the hybrid pair got home a couple months ago, he immediately understood that Wooyoung wasn't the brightest cat around here, specially after that time he tried to jump out of the closed window to catch a bird, which ended with a funny trip to the ER, but holy shit, that got him totally by surprise. Wow.

"Yeah, I don't think so."

Wooyoung frowned, looking deeply offended once again. "The fuck you mean? I've heard of hybrids getting pregnant despite their gender, what if I got him pregnant?! I can't be a d-"

"Hey whoah, stop right there!" Hongjoong was quick to hold one frantic hand up between them, stopping his unhinged rant. "First, gross, I don't need to know about you guys sex life." His other hand came to his face, pinching his nosebridge like it would help the headache currently forming behind his eyes. It didn't. "Secondly, that depends on the hybrids species, not every hybrid is built the same way, male cat hybrids can't get pregnant, it's literally basic biology Wooyoung-ah!"

The black hybrid looked like he was about to retort with more nonsense, but Hongjoong raised one finger between them and he instantly closed his mouth. He knew better than arguing with a pissed Hongjoong.

"And lastly, San is literally a male calico, even if male cat hybrids could get pregnant, you know he's literally sterile, right?"

Suddenly, he was met with a devastating silence, he could probably have heard crickets if he concentrated hard enough.

"…right?"

Wooyoung looked away, sporting an aggressive pout and furrowed eyebrows.

Great.

Just great.

Not only had he to console his still crying and slightly insane roommate, now he needed to have the sex talk with him too, like he was his kid and not a friend, a whole grown adult at that. He could feel his date night with his boyfriend vanishing into ashes right through his finger.

Lucky him, someone clearing their throat made them both look at the hallway's door.

Seonghwa was there, leaning on the doorframe with his arms folded against his chest, looking at them with fond eyes and a half-smile, deeply amused with the situation.

"Um… h-how long have you been there?" asked Wooyoung awkwardly, not meeting his gaze either.

The human looked between them, smiling widely now and humming. "Too much for my liking."

Hongjoong could feel his face burning by now, he was sure he would've evaporated right then and there if he could.

Side eyeing Wooyoung to make sure he wouldn't die spontaneously like a hamster, he quickly got up and moved to his boyfriend side. His hands found the other's waist in an instant, giving him a soft grateful peck to his lips. "Babe, can we switch? You're better at talking, please?" he asked pleadingly in an almost whisper.

Seonghwa nodded and cupped his cheeks, squeezing them lightly and making his lower lip jut out in the process. "San just threw up outside the toilet, you're cleaning that up," and he gave his boyfriend another sweet peck, letting his face go and making his way to Wooyoung in an instant.

His brain took a second too long to catch up, and when it did, Hongjoong gasped dramatically, clutching his pearls and looking back at his boyfriend, offended as ever. The absolute betrayal!

But he couldn't even get mad when he saw Seonghwa sitting down and hugging Wooyoung with too much force, ready to give him a full-on biology lesson after some much needed cuddles.

He loved his boyfriend way too much.

Cleaning the bathroom it is.

⚞^. .^⚟

Everything calmed down after a while.

Hongjoong cleaned the bathroom while San hovered over the door, apologizing every two minutes.

Seonghwa took his whiteboard out and explained cat hybrids reproductive cycles to Wooyoung, who made way too many questions for a cat hybrid himself. It looked like an elementary school class, it was quite endearing actually.

While Seonghwa finished his improvised biology lesson, Hongjoong ordered dinner.

He could still hear Wooyoung arguing how he would defy biology with the power of true love while he placed the order, but that was not his problem anymore. If Seonghwa could handle this, he's going to nail his internship… probably.

While taking a quick shower, he heard the doorbell ring, probably the food, so he tried being as fast as he could. He still had a date to save.

Finally free from his shower, with still damp hair and ears, dressed with a fresh comfortable pajama, he made his way to the living room. There, he found his boyfriend with a matching pajama set —cute— and setting things up for their movie date. Food already out of the containers and platted to make it look fancier, two fluffy blankets folded on their seats, Seonghwa currently lighting up a couple candles around the room for ambience, and the two hybrids shifted and cuddled on the other side of the sofa, not wanting to be left out on their date night but not wanting to intrude either.

Being the weak, weak cat he was, he couldn't resist running behind Seonghwa, hugging his wait tightly and kissing his neck repeatedly, purring from the moment he made contact with the human.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too, honey."

Notes:

So... this was supposed to be more woosan centered but the narrator decided otherwise and made it MY problem, never trust Kim Hongjoong as a narrator. Next time I'm firing you and hiring Wooyoung or Seonghwa, you hear me?

Oh, last time they mentioned Seonghwa is still a student, he's going to be a great teacher one day!

And of course Woo, you can totally get him pregnant with the power of true love, don't let biology tell you otherwise!

Thank you for reading!
