The weather here in the South Downs was generally pleasant, but today seemed lovelier than most. A perfect breeze, cheery sun, and the waves lapping so gently against the cliffs— was it any wonder Asa and Anthony awoke and so promptly called the Them for a beach day?
This was certainly not a new routine for them, the young ones were wonderful company, always with such interesting stories to liven any day.
Asa donned a floppy straw hat rather old-fashioned bathing costume, a one piece with short sleeves that came down to his mid thigh. Anthony favored a more modern pair of swim trunks (black, with a pattern of monstera leaves), but as much as he teased, he adored the sight of his husband in his outfit. They packed a basket of sandwiches and wine and grapes, just finished setting up an umbrella and several blankets to lounge upon when Pepper arrived, Brian and Wensleydale carrying a cooler of frozen treats and drinks between them as they followed her. Adam, Warlock, and Joshua would arrive soon after.
The lot of them took to the water for a time, but eventually they returned to their little camp. Asa and Wensleydale reclined with their books, and Anthony settled in for a nap, head pillowed on Asa’s soft belly (he’d only notice the tan line left by his sunglasses later that evening). Adam and Pepper tossed some ball between them, Brian ended up as smeared with chocolate ice cream as he was with sunblock. Joshua and dear Warlock floated and bobbed on the waves on some inflatable raft they’d brought, chatting peacefully and watching the clouds.
It really was such a lovely day, the lot of them together like this— the hours passed so easily as the golden sun carried on its course.
