Asa and Anthony Crowley-Fell may finally have their South Downs Cottage, but Anthony still made the journey to London to lecture. He had built a great relationship with his colleagues and his students— especially those in the smaller research classes— and couldn’t bear to leave it all just yet, so every morning he drove Asa to the little bakery he’d taken a job at and begin his commute.
Today was the first day of the new school year, and he got to kick it all off with one of his favorite classes. There were only about a dozen students in this advanced class, and he’d taught them for a few years now. Banter was easy with the lot of them, and Anthony would be lying if he said he didn’t let them get away with a bit more than his other classes. They knew how to get him talking, and today, Anthony planned for it.
He settled at his desk, grinning at the usual utterances of “Hey, good morning Professor Crowley!” and “How was your holiday, Mr. Crowley?” as his pupils took their seats. This was going to be fun.
He raised his left hand, quieting the group of them momentarily before they gasped as their eyes fell on the shining gold ring on his finger.
“Professor Crowley-Fell, now, thanks… you get two minutes to ask all your questions, deal? On your marks, get set… go.”
He hid his chuckle by taking a sip of coffee from his mug as the room descended into chaos, excited questions and exclamations alike erupting throughout the classroom. The ruckus lasted much longer than the planned two minutes, but it was only the first day of term. The syllabus could wait if it meant he could talk about his Angel for a bit.
