   Summary

   During the Great War, Elspeth was a nurse who took up a lantern and a bayonet to slay the things that scratched at the door and demanded entry to feast on those under her care. Taken into the Dream by Flora, she became a Hunter and when the Child was slain, Gehrman sent her back. But the world she returned to was not her own, instead of a world recovering from The Great War, it was a world where a war was close to erupting.
