Summary
Lia is Carmen's only bassist in her eighth grade honors, and she gets the chance at a solo. Unfortunately for both of them, Lia's passion for school only goes towards one class: orchestra. She's either barely passing or failing her other classes, while flying through orchestra like it's some easy A, not the challenge it should be.
Carmen and Ryland met by happenstance on the first day of school, like the universe was bringing them together on purpose. She goes to him with her proposition: help me get Lia passing so she can perform her solo.
