After a long day, Will Byers loves nothing more than a nice warm shower.
Except, today the water wont turn on.
"Mom!" He yelled across the house, "did you pay the water bill??"
Joyce emerged from the hallway holding a pile of freshly washed sheets. "Yeah? What's the matter?"
Will motioned to the shower and demonstrated the lack of water.
"Hmm, maybe it's broken. Why don't you ride down to the Wheelers and take a shower there?" Joyce said before returning to her room.
Will grabbed his phone and called Mike.
"Whats up, Will?" He sounded preoccupied, probably by a video game.
"Can I come over and use your shower? Ours is busted."
Mike paused for a moment before sighing. "You didn't hear, did you?"
"Hear what?" Will tilted his head as he hopped onto his bike.
"Do you remember that fanfiction you were reading? I think it was called SuperSucker?"
Will grimaced. He forgot he had told Mike about that smut fic he was reading awhile back. He almost forgot about it since he had dropped it around chapter 6.
"Supersoaker? What about it?"
"It's Ai."
Will felt sick. "What? Seriously? That's why my shower is busted?"
"Yup. And not just your shower. Lucas and Jane already called to let me know their showers were also busted."
He couldn't believe it. Wheezy had written Supersoaker with Ai and he hadn't noticed? No wonder chapter six was so ass!
Will was just around the corner from Mike's house. "Well is your shower working? I just finished working out and I kinda need a bath."
"Well.. yeah. But my Dad said something about how it probably only has one or two more uses before we also run out of water. So... we have to conserve it."
"Conserve it?"
"I see you outside. Come in and I'll explain."
Mike hung up the phone.
Will made his way inside, greeting Holly who was in the living room watching Bluey, and then making his way to Mike's room.
"Mike?"
Mike was sitting on his bed with two towels, two washcloths, and two sets of pajamas neatly folded up on the edge of his bed.
"In order to conserve water and protect the planet we are gonna have to shower together!" He exclaimed, smiling wide.
Will's eyes went dramatically wide. "What?!"
"Whats the matter? Don't you want to save the planet? Supersoaker is sucking up all the water so we have to do our part and shower together."
Will tilted his head in confusion. "But why can't we just take less time in the shower? Wouldn't that also save water?"
Mike shushed him with a finger on his lips.
"No, no! We have to shower together. Save the penguins, Will! Save the ocean!"
"Ai doesn't use water from the ocean..."
"Do you want to shower with me or not?"
Will decided that it wasn't worth the argument, and also wanted an excuse to shower with his crush so he jumped at the opportunity. The two boys grabbed their towels and headed for the bathroom.
