Work Text:
Alex loved nights like this, just him and Henry together in the Texas townhouse. Tonight Alex planned a late night date for the two of them, including a fire with s’mores and a blanket laid out on the grass. That’s where they were now, laying together under the stars. They were laying side by side, hands lightly resting on each others, not quite holding hands but just enough physical contact to let the other know there were there.
“This is nice.” Henry said, turning his head to look at Alex.
“Is it, I miss these nights when we’re apart.” Alex squeezed Henry’s hand. They laid side by side for several minutes. Alex’s eyes were closed, relaxed in the moment.
“Alex look.” Henry sounded excited and when Alex opened his eyes he saw what it was. Looking up at the sky Alex could see there were shooting stars in the sky. Not many, but a couple every few seconds, just was enough to be amazing. Both watched in awe for a few minutes until they were done.
“Bet you can’t see that from a castle.” Alex teased.
“No I can’t, and you can’t see it from the White House either.”
“You little…” Alex rolled on top of Henry, pinning him down to the ground. Alex grabbed Henry’s wrists, pinning them above his head.
“This is unacceptable, unhand me you heathen.” Henry tried being serious but couldn’t stop laughing long enough to.
“I think we both know you don’t want that.” Alex leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to Henry’s lips. Henry used the moment to flip them around so he was on top of Alex now.
“I think this is much better.”
“I planned a nice night for us and this is how you repay me? Using my own tactics against me? Unacceptable. I demand compensation.” Alex tried throwing Henry off but he wan’t budging.
“And I appreciated it all very much, the shooting stars were a nice touch as well. But how about we put out the fire and head to bed.”
“Can I have another kiss first? I don’t know if my fragile heart can handle how mean my boyfriend has been to me. I demand love.” Alex pouted, trying to see if it would work. Henry saw right through the facade but leaned down and kissed Alex anyways.
“Come on sweetheart, let’s head to bed.” Henry got up first, holding his hand out to pull Alex up with. Putting out the fire didn’t take too long, it being almost out anyways. Alex grabbed the blanket from the ground and Henry grabbed the s’more ingredients to take inside. The house was dark and quiet. Henry threw everything onto the counter before turning to Alex. Alex wrapped his arms around Henry and the two stood in the kitchen for several minutes, just taking in the other’s warmth. All they both wanted was more nights like this where they were able to just be together without anyone else around. Maybe someday. Hopefully soon.
