Chapter Text
It was late and Bob couldn’t sleep; he had a feeling he would get the overwhelming memories again. These memories weren’t bobs though, Bob didn’t know who the memories belonged to, but he knew the source of them were close. Sometimes the memories were about normal sad things, family passing, family arguments and overwhelming moments but sometimes the memories get loud, personal and traumatic. Bob figured out the kid's name was Jonathan, he had an older brother and his parents were married, they looked perfect at first but the deeper the memories got the worse the family became.
The boy's father was a military vet who was strict, his mother was mostly quiet but judgy, while his brother was either gone or silent. The boy wasn’t so much like them, but he was nice and curious about many things. It seemed the boy was an outcast most of the time. Bob tried to see the boy's face, but it was always blurry and unseeable. Bob figured it was the part of the memory that was forgotten. Bob noticed the boy was the one always yelled at for simple mistakes, like spills or bad grades. Jonathan was silent, seeming to take all the harsh words from his father. Bob hated seeing that, it reminded him of his house being worse as he noticed Jonathan's mother never intervened for the boy.
Bob checked the time and realized it was around four am. Bob laid in his bed bored and tired, he started regretting not sleeping. Bob thought about a kid living in that life, a life where your mother never attempted to define you nor your brother. Bob was deep into this thought when he heard a door creek. Bob sat up quickly and checked the time again, four ten am. Bob tried to figure out who would be up, or who just got back from a night thing, no one came to mind. Bob slowly got up and walked to the door, slowly opening it.
Bob looked out seeing if anyone was up or in the bathroom, but doors and light were off. Bob thought he may have made it up so he could stay up longer, so he turned to shut the door when he noticed the kitchen light was dim. Bob froze, remembering he was the last to turn that light off. Bob slowly walked to the end of the hall to see who it was. Bob found it was Walker; Walker seemed to be going out for a jog. Bob didn’t know whether or not he should ask Walker why he was up early or act like it never happened. Bob watched though, the way John moved, he seemed to be thinking and or tired.
Bob was about to leave when he saw John move. Bob froze thinking John saw him. But John walked to the candles and blew them out and stood there watching the smoke. Bob was confused why John would blow out the candles when they were perfectly fine. After that weird thing John walked out and seemed to be leaving. Bob then walked into the kitchen and walked over to the candles to see what was wrong with them. That's when he heard footsteps coming back.

Walker had been having some weird dreams about his past. He would try to sleep but end up hearing his father yelling at him for a small question or mess he’d made. Walker tried to forget those memories but couldn’t as those be the memories that made him a soldier. The only reason he joined the army was for his dad, he never planned on becoming a super soldier nor staying in the army that long. He stayed in so he could have a reason of absence that could still make his father proud.
John got up and pulled out some clothes from the almost empty closet, he thought since he couldn’t sleep, he’d go clear his head. Usually, John would take a jog near five am and not four am. John was trying to be quiet while opening the door, but the door had a semi loud creek while opening it. John quickly shut the door and went to the kitchen for a cup of coffee and a bottle of water. John heard small footsteps and thought it was someone seeing who was up, ignoring it John prepped his coffee.
John noticed the candles Val got were still lit from last night, john whole body froze. John walked over to the candles and blew them out watching the smoke go up into the air. The thing John didn’t talk about was his brother's death; his brother was a pilot and served the army for years like his dad till he died in a plane crash which burned him alive. After that John hasn’t been too pleased near fire. John turned to grab the coffee pot, while doing so he saw someone behind the wall watching him. John didn’t know who it was but didn’t want to talk to anyone this early in the morning, so he tried to hurry up and leave.
Johns started to head to the door but realized he didn't have the keys to get back in. John hurriedly walked back to the kitchen and grabbed the key but stopped seeing Bob fully up and staring at the candles. The awkwardness was tense but there was something else in it that was just slightly noticeable. John was quick to grab his keys and leave to escape the tension. Johns opened the doors and walked outside into the main waiting area. Where only reporters wanting to talk to anyone were waiting, as soon as he took one step they ran to him asking questions and blocking his way. John was getting annoyed and wanted out of the space. Thankfully the security was able to help get the annoying or rude reporters off of John before either a fight broke out or something was said.
John never realized how long he was out; he listened to his music of classic soft rock. The only thing on his mind is his past and some of his choices he made. The amount of people either hurt by him or the people he worked with. Maybe things would be different if he had made that choice that day, no one would know him, no one would be hurt or scared by him. That one choice was always on his mind, he knew how he could do it and how to make it look accidental, that probably was the most concerning part of it. When he realized how long he was out for he turned around and went to the tower. By the time he got their Bob was watching something with annoying music and John just wanted to get away from people and his own thoughts.
