Work Text:
Yellow would be an idiot if he didn’t know that Blue was the prettiest darn flower in the whole wide world.
Sure, he hasn’t seen most the world, he didn’t know much of anythin’ that laid outside of the confines of Asgore’s cozy flower shop.
In fact, he didn’t know much of anythin’ in general.
But he did know that he was right about Blue. He didn’t need to see anythin’ else, or anyone else.
Other than knowin’ that Blue was the prettiest thing since… somethin’ really really pretty. He knew a few more things too. At least about two or three whole things.
One of those things was the fact that Blue knew how pretty he was, he must know that he was too pretty for anyone and that there were no one close enough to be competin’ with him.
He also knew that whatever feelin’ he had when thinkin’ about Blue must’ve been love.
He’s heard Seth’s stories of romance, they were so… good at describing stuff ‘nd all that whenever they spoke of love the human heroines in those tales felt for their lover, Yellow could feel his own heart beat for Blue when he weren’t even there!
That gotta be love, he was sure of it.
But then he was back to not knowin’. He didn’t have the slightest idea on what to do with the love that had… consumed him like a horse consumed its plant-like prey.
He learnt love and the sort from Seth’s stories but he also learnt heartbreak from Asgore’s.
Asgore spoke of wishin’ and desires that were unfulfilled ‘cause his lover didn’t want nothin’ to do with him anymore! As is typical of Yellow, he didn't understand this at all.
Asgore was amazin’. Kind like Green, honourable like Blue and strong like Orange. He must’ve been the second most wonderful man after Blue himself.
And if even someone as great as that couldn’t have the lover he wanted, what hope did Yellow have with Blue?
He didn’t know how to be a flower worthy of him. Half good half as honourable or half as pretty.
He suddenly felt sad, sad and hopeless like when he found out he did an injustice that needed to be punished.
He thinks that the sadness itself was an injustice too. Unjust to Blue of all people, which was the worst kind of injustice of all.
Lovin’ Blue was just natural but being sad he didn’t love Yellow back? Criminelly selfish. He needed to be punished.
He got up from the spot where he was pitifully laying with a decision, he needed to get punished all eternal-style again or his name wasn’t cowboy! He made his way to the room of punishments, the ones with the real bad ways he deserved for his unforgivable ACTs.
He’d come here before when the only person who needed to be served Justice for their crimes was himself, usually before Blue stopped him for some reason or another that he couldn’t quite remember right now. Probably a really good reason, Blue was always right.
Blue never needed to be served Justice. He always did the right thing. What right did Yellow have calling himself a Justice when he always messed up like this? He was nothin’ but a no good faker.
He miserably walked to his inevitable demise, torn with the guilt of his actions crawlin’ down his spine. But he knew he had to do it. For Blue. He’d do anything for Blue.
That gave him the resolve he needed to march right in there with his head held high and some dignity. If he couldn’t do the right thing before he should take pride in at least doin’ the right thing now.
Now he just needed to find a good spot to…
“Yellow?”
Yellow immediately perked up at the sound, he’d recognise that pretty voice anywhere.
“Blue!” He said, immediately going in for a hug that Blue returned, “You’re a real sight for sore eyes, Blue! I’ve had a terrible day.”
He pulled away and looked into Blue’s eyes, his gaze was soft and carin’ as always. It made Yellow feel all fuzzy like a dandelion.
“Why’s that, my dear?”
Blue called him that so gently that he almost forgot his name. Hold on.. What was his name? The only word he was thinking right now was ‘Blue’ and that wasn’t his name, it was Blue’s name! He’d be a thievin’ scoundrel to steal it from them. It was a real pretty name though…
“Yellow?”
Oh, that was it. Yellow sorta preferred ‘my dear’.
“Yeah, Blue?”
“I asked why you’re having a bad day.”
“I have a bidet?!”
“A bad day, Yellow.”
Yellow thought for a moment, if Blue was here it automatically made it a good day, didn’t it?
After all, his heart was beating real fast like….
“Oh I remember!” He exclaimed before immediately becomin’ all downcast again, “Oh I’m a criminell, Blue, a criminell!”
He leaned his head on Blue’s shoulder and started sobbing.
He felt Blue comfortingly rub his back. It made him feel infinitely better but that was just another part of his crimes!
“Oh there there, Yellow. What is it this time? Did someone tell you that you were a criminal again?”
“Yeah! I told me!” The embodiment of Justice himself, that guy knew Justice more than anyone so he must be right!
“And who exactly is the victim of this crime?”
“You!” He sobbed, any crime against Blue was unforgivable.
Blue paused, “I don’t recall any crimes being done against me, least of all by you.”
That made it worse, Blue didn’t even know what he'd done! He didn’t mean to keep secrets from Blue, now he was trickifying them like a criminell too!
He looked back up at him, “I… I… I’m sorry!” He sobbed again.
“Yellow, Yellow calm down. I’m sure whatever it is that you think you did, it can be resolved without any extreme measures.” He said carefully.
Blue was so kind. He must be the goodest person ever.
Yellow sniffled, “Well.. well..” His heart was beating harder and harder, “I’m in love with ya! I’m in love with ya and I’m not good enough for ya!” He sobbed, "You're such a good person ‘nd all and I’m a failure of justice-ing! I feel all sad ’nd stuff that ya can’t love me back or nothin’ which ain’t fair to ya at all! I ain't half as good or half as pretty!”
Yellow knew he really messed up this time, Blue couldn’t even speak! He was just staring silently.
“I’m sorry!!” He wailed, now Blue understood why it was completely requiremented that he got punished for his crime!
“Yellow.” Blue finally said, “That’s… that’s not a crime.”
Huh? “It.. it ain’t?”
“No, my dear.” Blue places his hand gently on Yellow’s cheek, “It’s…” Yellow never heard Blue sound as lost for words as he did right now. Blue was usually the best at words, “It’s sweet. You’re sweet.”
Sweet? Like candy? That was a good thing, right? Or was Blue saying he wanted to eat him as punishment? Yellow furrowed his eyebrows trying to understand.
Blue lifted his face higher, making Yellow go back to looking into his eyes. Such beautiful eyes, Yellow could get lost in them. How would he possibly find a way out? Wait, he couldn’t find a way out now. He couldn’t look at anything else if he tried!
Well… that wasn’t so bad. He liked bein’ this close to Blue. And Blue said that wasn’t a crime.
“You’re so silly. Everything you feel for me, I feel about you.”
…No. Way.
“Ya— ya really mean it, Blue?! You feel all lovin’-like for me too?!”
“Of course I do, your wonderful, Yellow. Your passion is like no other. You are like no other and it’s.. beautiful.”
“You..” His heart again. Beating so hard like it was at Blue’s whim, “You’ve really stolen my heart, Blue.”
Blue smiles, unlike any smile he’d seen from him before, “Stolen? Perhaps I’m the one who should be punished, then.”
Yellow became full with panic, “No! No no no, Blue I could never punish you! Even if you’d of stolenified every part of my body!”
Blue’s whole body softened, “Oh Yellow, you sweetheart. You’ve really ‘stolenified’ my heart too.”
“You serious?! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to!”
Blue exhaled slightly before leaning in and— oh.
Yellow felt warmth flood his whole body. Blue was kissing him, just like what done happened in the good ending in one of those romance novels.
That meant Blue felt the same way! Wait, he said that. Well darn his hat and call him smitten, Blue felt the same way! This was amazin’!
Yellow wrapped his arms around Blue’s waist, unable to go another second without holdin’ him close. Blue held his face more firmly in response.
Yellow was kissin’ him back for so long that he started to run out of breath. But he didn’t wanna stop kissin’ Blue so he didn’t.
Blue however, pulled away, giving Yellow the chance to take a deep breath. It was a relief but then he felt sad they weren’t kissin’ no more. He frowned.
“What’s that look for, dear?”
“We ain’t kissin’ no more… but I really liked it..”
“We can kiss again, Yellow.”
“Oh! Thank the stars.” He sighed in relief again, “..You wanna kiss me again? You really meant what you said about likin’ me and all?”
“You make my heart beat all the same. Seeing you makes my days and nights. You have a big heart and it makes mine beat all the same and your absence makes it grow fonder. I love you, silly.
The words took his breath away. And he just got back the ability to breathe! But Yellow meant what he said about Blue being allowed to steal his whole body, he could steal his breath too.
“Gee, your words are as pretty as you are, Blue.” He hoped the warmth he was feeling wasn’t hot enough to set him on fire. Then he wouldn’t have the chance to hold Blue more!
“So are you, you said you weren’t half as pretty as me and that’s nonsense. There’s no sight in the world I enjoy more than that of your face.”
That’s.. that’s exactly what Yellow thought about Blue! He couldn’t imagine that’s what Blue thought when he looked at him, “Wha— wait what about your reflection!?”
Blue sighed fondly, “You really are so sincere.” Blue looked smitten, “Yes, even more than my reflection. Much more.”
Yellow was stunned with confusion. He couldn’t believe the words but Blue never lied! He must have really meant it.
“…If you really think so Blue, then I must be the second prettiest man in the world.”
Blue chuckled, “Why don’t we share first place?”
“Oh! Do we get medals?”
“I’m sure we can arrange that. But for now…” His fingers move up Yellow’s jaw before reaching up to run his finger across the brim of Yellow’s hat, “Let’s stay like this.”
Yellow’s whole body shivered at the touch, he didn’t even know what the other thing he just said was, he definitely just wanted to do this.
“Well if that ain’t the best idea I’ve heard since…” He thinks, “Ever.”
“What about when I said we could kiss again?”
He jumped at the words, “Yes, that! That’s the best idea I’ve heard since…” Before he could think for very long, Blue grabbed his arm and pulled him forwards until their faces were all close again.
“Come on, cowboy, we have lost time to make up for.”
Yellow followed him immediately, he’d follow Blue to the end of the earth if Blue asked him to.
He didn’t know who ‘time’ was but he felt real bad for losin’ them. And he was certainly dedicated to makin’ up for it.
