Hair dye

Summary:

Branzy decides to dye his hair for the first time to match his boyfriend, who helps.

Notes:

This is a continuation of my Highschool AU fic, you don’t have to read it to understand this but I recommend to read that one first!

Work Text:

It was a good morning as far as Clown was concerned. Track practice was nice and easy because of everyone just getting back from the C.C.S.M.

Clown very much appreciated it. His body felt like it could collapse from exhaustion from all the fencing.

All he wanted was to go back to his boyfriends house and cuddle while he worked on something that wouldn’t interfere with Clown in his lap.

“BRANZY!!!!”

Well, you speak of the devil.

Despite his body’s protests Clown pulled himself towards the sound of what was inevitably the fall out of one of Branzy’s pranks. From the sound of it, Chief and Rek were the victims of this one.

Sure enough once Clown pushed through the crowd of people he saw the group of three friends, two of whom had hair colors that they didn’t before.

Chiefs hair was dyed bright blue, and Rek’s was green.

Clown burst out cackling. Branzy had been revenge pranking his friends since they’d gotten back, but this was surprising.

“YOU! Clown did you give Branzy the key card to the team locker room???” Rek shouted.

“What? No! If he has my card he stole it.” Clown replied through laughter.

Branzy silently slunk over and handed Clowns key card back to him.

“Why did you even need to get into the locker room?” Clown asked.

“Because he freaking put the hair dye in my shampoo bottle!” Rek replied furiously.

Branzy just cackled.

“Wait- so has my hair been neon blue all day? AND NO ONE TOLD ME?????” Chief yelled. Rek cringed and explained that he was trying to avoid Branzy’s wrath.

“This stuff is temporary right?” Rek eventually asked.

“Yeah don’t worry! The bottle said it was.” Branzy laughed.

Wait-

Rek’s hair is dark brown and Chief’s was black-

Those hair colors were incredibly difficult to dye…

“Branzy, I don’t suppose you used colors on color did you..?” Clown asked

“Yeah, why?” Branzy asked digging the very familiar bottle out of his bag.

“Because that stuff is permanent.” Clown explained through giggles.

“WHAT?!” All three of them shouted in unison.

“Yeah- it says it’s temporary, it isn’t. Unless I’ve just never grown my hair out long enough for it to fade completely. It’s the product I use in my hair.” Clown wrapped his finger around a strand of his dyed hair. He needed to cut and re-dye it soon.

Rek looked like he was about to explode. “Green? Really green???” Rek yelled exasperated.

“What’s wrong with green?” Parrot teased, coming out of nowhere.

“Um- well…” Rek started fumbling over his words. Parrot’s bus had arrived so he didn’t bother sticking around.

Branzy laughed before whispering something in Rek’s ear that turned his face redder then Clowns hair.

“Well, anyway- gotta go! Lots of homework and all that.” Branzy quickly flipped his shoes into skates and raced off.

Of course leaving Clown behind. Ugh.

He was not looking forward to the bike ride to Branzy’s house.

Clown was huffing by the time he finally got to the small blue town house with the unattached converted garage, with one of the doors open letting all the half finished engineering projects pour out of it like a busted piñata.

Branzy was already tinkering on something.

“You ditched me.” Clown said getting of his bike parking it in front of the garage door.

“Sorry! Rek was going to be maadddd after what I said and I chose the smart option.”

“What did you even say?”

“He has a crush on Parrot. He doesn’t even realize it but he does and I teased him about it.”

“Ohhhhh. Wanna lock them in a closet?” Clown chuckled.

Branzy laughed along with him. “Oh yeah, just need to find a good excuse- hey!” Branzy was cut off when Clown picked him up.

“Why?” Branzy asked when Clown dropped him onto his bed.

“Mhhhmmm… tired.” Clown replied digging his head into Branzy’s chest.

“You’re just a big cat aren’t you? Wouldn’t it be better to cuddle at your house- y’know, where we’re not stuck in a twin sized bed?”

“Why would we need a bigger bed? I don’t wanna deal with Kab.”

Branzy laughed and started playing with Clowns hair.

“Your hair is getting pretty long.” Branzy commented.

“Yeah, gonna cut it soon, and dye it.” Clown replied face still comfortably buried in his boyfriend.

“You do all that yourself?”

“Mmhm.”

“Well… um… you use the brand I used to prank Rek and Chief?”

“Mmhm.”

“Umm… I bought a purple bottle…”

Clown raised his head up to be able to look at Branzy.

“You wanna dye your hair?” Clown asked reaching up to play with the currently white curls.

“Not all the way- I like my white hair. But I was thinking maybe dip dyeing it like you. So we could like match?”

Clown smiled. “That’d be fun, I was planning on doing my hair over the weekend- wanna come over?”

“Yeah!”

🔮

Branzy nervously knocked on the door. He had everything Clown told him to bring in a random plastic bag he found in his kitchen.

Clown opened the door pretty quickly. His hair was fully lose, Branzy had only seen it lose a handful of times, he looked stunning.

“Hey! Come in, I haven’t started yet so we can do it together.” Clown said motioning for Branzy to come in.

“Hey Clown- Oh! Hi miss Oodle! Hey Kab-” Branzy was surprised to see Clowns mother, she rarely seemed to be around much, similar to Branzy’s own parents.

“Hi Branzy. It’s good to see you.” She replied.

“Yeah hi!” Kab also exclaimed, she was sitting at the dining room table with her hair up in foils.

“Come on- we’re dying our hair up in my room.” Clown said gently tugging Branzy’s arm.

“Now you boys better not do anything other than hair dyeing! Understood!?” Clowns mother called up the stairs.

Both Clown and Branzy froze, their faces turning bright red.

“Yeah mom! Got it.” Clown replied dragging Branzy up to his room.

Branzy had been in Clowns room a few times before but seeing all the various swords on hooks still spooked Branzy. Especially knowing that plenty of them were sharp.

Clown led Branzy into the attached bathroom that Branzy had definitely never been in before. It was fairly average, except for the red stains that seemed to be littered around the area.

“That’s hair dye right?” Branzy asked eyeing one of the stains on the bathroom towels.

“Umm- most of them are…”

“Most?”

“Oh don’t pretend you’ve never cut yourself on some uneven piece of metal- I play with swords ok? Sometimes I accidentally pick up one of the sharps!”

“Suuureeee ok I’m totally not dating a serial killer suuuurrreeee…”

Clown laughed hysterically at the joke before taking his mask off and kissing Branzy.

“Ok- so I need to bleach my hair first- I doubt that’s necessary for you. Clown explained.

“Oh you sure?” Branzy asked sarcastically playing with his naturally white curls.

Clown laughed as he put elastics around his hair and applied the bleach.

“So how high up do you want the purple to go?” Clown asked changing his plastic gloves- that Branzy hadn’t even realized he had on.

“Um- not to high- maybe just like halfway up my bangs?”

“Ok! That works- you probably need significantly less dye then me huh? Let’s see how this goes.”

It went great in Branzy’s opinion.

He loved the brand new purple dips in his hair- even if they didn’t go as high as he wanted. He also loved the feeling of Clown on top of him in cuddling in his bed.

Notes:

Enjoy this little bit of pure fluff. I have an idea for the next AU, but if you have any suggestions feel free to leave them in the comments! I’ll probably get to em eventually!

(Also I’m dyslexic. I will put this at the end notes in all my fics!)
