Chapter Text
I’m sure you’re aware what this letter means by now.
Roblox HQ, be there by noon today, and try not to be late.

The paper crumpled in Player’s hand, the brown and yellow feather used for communication getting hidden in his pocket once more.
”He could’ve at least given me a day of heads up,” Player grumbles to himself. He checks the time. 11 AM. Player slumps back on his bed. One hour on his hands. It’ll take him 15 minutes to walk to the HQ… maybe he could give a visit to the library.
As for the being late… Shedletsky’s never seemed to actually do anything. He could just say... he lost track of time.
“Last one there’s a rotten egg!” Red called out in a teasing tone, looking behind him to where two girls were following behind the rather reckless teenager. The older girl whose hair was as blue as the ocean rolled her eyes. Gesturing towards the younger girl.
”Red! Carmine’s Blind, you can’t be doing that when she doesn’t know where to go,” Blue scolded, giving her brother an unamused look that was a mix exasperation and fondness. Then a younger voice broke the silence, it was quiet and soft.
”What are we doing again?” The attention of the group turned to a girl with yellow skin and hair, bandages laid over her eyes while she held Blue's hand who often acted as a guide to the blind girl, as they couldn't afford a cane and didn't know how to get one in the first place.
”Just going to the Meadows to play around a bit,” Blue explained, being patient and apologetic while leaning the girl back towards Red who was waiting impatiently for his sisters “Sorry, did we forget to tell you?”
”It’s alright,” Carmine smiled, the idea of laying down in the meadows with the two robloxians that were basically her older siblings sounded quite amazing to the blind child. “It sounds pretty fun.”
”What are we waiting for then!?” Red Begin running forwards, almost entirely oblivious to his surroundings, evident by-
"RED WATCH OUT!" Blue exclaims, her voice a high shriek and she watched in horror as her brother ran into a stranger…how embarrassing, not a great start to the day.
Red soon bumps into a person, Red falling to the ground as the person simply paused before turning around. His expression sheepish while standing up from where he had fallen, he winced as Blue gripped his ear and could see her glaring at him.
"Uh… sorry about that," Red sighs, offering the stranger an apologetic look for his own obliviousness and clumsy behavior.
"No need to worry," The person chuckled. He looks around, expecting to see at least one adult approaching the kids and scolding them for their reckless actions, only to realize the kids were alone, it didn't make much sense..this area wasn't exactly safe for the younger folks of bizville. "Where are you're guys parents?? This area isn't exactly safe you know…”
Red and Blue glanced each other her. Carmine brings her free hand to a necklace and begins to play with it. Her expression shy as she hid behind the older two, the person hadn't even realized there was a third until she moved to hide.
The person sighed quietly, he realized he didn't have time to scold two teenagers and a child who barely looked like she was in double digits, so instead he offered them a frown, nodding his head towards the pathway back to the town "Look, you kids should probably get home. I'm Player by the way."
"Nice to meet you Player!" Blue smiles. The older girl pointed at Red and Carmine with a gentle look on her face, being the more calmer one of the twins. "This is Red, and this is Carmine." Player nodded, acknowledging their names before rushing off, once he was out of earshot..Red huffed, crossing his arms in annoyance.
"He was weird.." The teenage boy mumbled under his breath, only for his ear to get another sharp tug from his twin sister. "Don't talk about strangers like that Red! It's a bad example for Carmine." She gestured towards the young girl besides her, Red rolled his eyes, pointing his hand in the direction Player had ran off too. "If he wasn't weird then explain why he told us to buzz off? This area isn't exactly "dangerous" like the alleyways. So what is his deal?"
While the twins argued, their attention had drifted away from their blind friend, She had been just patiently waiting for them to stop so they could head to the meadows as they had planned too, when she felt something with her foot, it was a feather of sorts, it felt soft..the young girl frowned, realizing this must have fallen from Player's pocket.
"Hey! Wait, sir! You dropped this!" She turned to the direction where she had heard Player had walked off too, the only pathway she knew of in that direction led to the roblox HQ, without warning she began to run to try and catch up to him, ignoring the sounds of Blue's panic. "Carmine, wait! You shouldn't go alone! Wait up for us!"
The teenage girl took off after their friend, with Red following close behind his sister. Both of them not very happy that their little sister had ran off without them just to chase a stranger over a lost feather.
"Why the heck are there so many nooblets here?" Player looked around the HQ confused, everywhere he turned seemed to only bring another wave of nooblets, which didn't make much sense, they usually didn't hang around this area..where we're the admins?
"Shedletskyyyy???" He called out, the name dragging on which usually got a reply from the said admin, but this time there wasn't much of a reply..not even a soul. Player felt a small tinge of worry that he tried to shake off, it was Shedletsky afterall so maybe he was playing a small little joke on his favorite hero. He checked the basement and his office only to find it empty, finally he decided to check outside, maybe thinking Shedletsky had gone out for fresh air.
When he stepped outside, he was greeted with a sight that took him aback, Shedletsky was on the ground however he wasn't just sitting down, he was injured..in front of him we're two figures, the first one was a hooded figure, from the looks of it, he only had one arm and he had Builderman thrown over his shoulder, his belt carrying the illumina, he wasn't alone. There was another male, shirtless and a wrestler from the looks of it, clearly he had been the one to beat Shedletsky up.
"Thank you, meet up with me once you've finished off this pest.." The Mysterious figured sneered at Shedletsky before walking away, leaving Noobador to stand over the injured admin. "Well..looks like i'm taking you to pound-town man.." Just as he raised his body to slam into Shedletsky into a final blow. the tables turned and a foot shoved into his side, knocking him away from Shedletsky. "Get away from him!"
It was now a showdown between Player and Noobador, "Punk, i'm just trying to get my pay!" The wrestler shot the robloxian an angry look, who shared the same expression but had fewer words while he steadied his grip on his sword.
While the two were busy in their little brawl, Carmine had came outside to where it was all going down, having talked to the robloxian at the desk to figure out where Player had gone. "Sir, are you here? You dropped something of yours!" He turned around, startled by the appearance of the young girl, it took him off guard and gave Noobador the chance to pick him up and throw him, he yelped and crashed into Carmine who wasn't expecting the blow.
"Ow…" Carmine sat up, dazed and barely able to process what was going on considering she had just been crashed into by someone way taller and larger than her.
“Oh- sorry kid,” Player quickly grimaces, getting up. He reaches for his side. Should he get out his sword? Probably… And maybe a cure card or two. The familiar blade takes shape in Player’s hands as he faces Noobador, Player taking a protective stance over the kid. The cure cards slide towards her, and it takes a moment for her to find them, but when she does a wave of warmth washes over her.
Carmine can hear sounds of conflict, but soon it fades.
"Fine, punk, I just need my pay anyways," Noobador scoffs. Player steps forwards to stop, but is far too late, only able to watch as Noobador jumps over the railing.
-"My head... I-Is someone there? I... got pretty banged up..."
Oh crap he forgot Shed was just on the ground-
"I-I can't... get up," Shedletsky lets out a labored breath, "It... was an ambush... The Illumina, and Builderman... both gone..."
Player curses under his breath, "What do you need me to do?"
"G-get to Roadtown... The Ice Dagger, someone's after the swords..." Shedletsky struggles to get out, "They're... our only... hope..."
Shedletsky passes out before he can finish the statement, Player only letting out a sigh before he turns around.
...There was still the kid there, dang it.
"You feeling alright kid?" Player worries, "Wait, Carmine, that's your name, right?"
"Yeah," Carmine exhales, "Y-you dropped this."
The familiar brown and yellow feather is revealed in the girl's grasp, Player quickly taking it. He can't believe he let himself loose it, Shedletsky would've killed him if it'd actually gotten lost.
"Thank you," Player sighs, pocketing it, "Do you need help getting up? Actually... where are your friends?"
"CARMINEEEE!" A young voice shouts.
Carmine gets up gradually, Player grabbing his cure cards and tapping them onto the girl's head. He watches as Carmine shouts, "Up here!"
Two small robloxians rushed forward, one with blue skin quickly checking Carmine over as the one with red skin stood slightly back.
"Are you alright?" Blue worries.
"I'm fine," Carmine sighs.
"You got thrown into a wall, I wouldn't count that as fine, Carmine," Player frowns.
"She got thrown INTO A WHAT?" Red exclaims. Player taps the cure cards on the girl's head again as if their effect wasn't going to be enough.
"I'd recommend getting her some help," Player pulled the card away from Carmine's head, she was looking much better already, "Cure cards can't fix everything after all." He picked the girl up under her arms pits and placed her back on her feet, checking her over one more time just to be safe. "Oh no sir..i'm fine really, just a bit…dazed." she chuckled awkwardly, fixing the bandages over her eyes.
Red and Blue peeked from over the male's shoulders, wincing at the sight of Shedletsky who had clearly seen better days, Then back at their young friend, Blue gripping her hand in worry. "You shouldn't have ran off..also what happened to that man?"
Player ignored her question, more focused on his frustrated mumbling from how his day was clearly gonna be taking a turn for the worst. "Roadtown…where even is roadtown?" upon hearing that question that was clearly not meant to be overheard, Red perked up. "Oh i know where it is! We've never been there butttt, we've been interested in exploring. We can lead you to there since you saved our friend."
Hearing that these teenagers, who were strangers were so willing to help him made Player pause for a moment out of surprise. But then a genuine smile reached his face that was hidden by the mask he wore. "Oh, you don't have to do that.."
"No no, I think its the least we can do! You helped Carmine after all," Blue insists. She stares past Player for a moment, as if all the answers she ever had would be revealed, "It looks like there's a cave up ahead… I think I remember seeing somewhere that beyond the cave would be the place you're looking for!"
Player glances in the direction, as if determining that Roadtown was in fact that way just by the general clouds alone. He turns back and nods at the kids, "You three have been a great help, thank you… and, please, find a way back to your homes."
"Wha-" Blue stood and froze as if she needed a backup processor for a moment. She blinks, "Hey wait! That's not what we meant! Let us at least go with you! We wanted to explore as well, remember!?"
Player watches the blind child reach towards Blue, grabbing her hand, making him hesitate, "Are you three certain? I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to be facing while doing… whatever this is, but its probably not going to be a good situation. Especially not for kids to be in."
"We can defend ourselves pretty well!" Red exclaims, "I think we can take care of whatever comes!"
"Red…" Blue takes on the best scolding tone she can get. Red only rolls his eyes in response.
"Alright," Player agrees. He looks at the determined faces of the children one last time, "You all can come along, but just keep in mind that you don't have to follow me any further than Roadtown, got that? I will also be taking care of any fighting we run into and if I get heavily injured, you three should run away."
"Agreed!" Blue smiles.
"Like I said, we can defend ourselves, but I suppose we can stick with those terms for a bit," Red decides, letting his mild annoyance spill into his tone.
"Sure," Carmine nods. She squeezes Blue's hand slightly, Blue doing it back playfully.
Player glances around, quickly slashing the boards over an elevator, "I can get you three towards the meadows, but I'm not sure where to go from there, so I'm assuming you three know?"
"Yeah!" Blue grins, "Just leave it to us!"
