Maekar stops past the door when he hears voices. "And what am I supposed to tell him Y/N? That a crazy general of the Seven seas has summoned you?" Baelor crosses his arms.
Yennefer checks that your have your toiletries.
"Baelor you of all people know that you can't turn down Sharako. He thinks I'm with Lucienne, but Sharako is Instagram crazy!" You shrug. "You know what your brother is like!"
"That's why you need to tell him first!" Baelor raises his voice. It's so unnerving that Yennefer walks through the closet into the neighbouring room. "Y/N I can't lie for you. If one of my brothers lied to me on Irene's behalf, I'd be really upset"
You type on your phone and nod. "I understand"
The King cracks his index knuckle. "This is your palace. Not your prison. Y/N you can go anywhere that you please, but don't expect me to lie for you. I refuse to be dragged into an impossible position!"
You hold your hands up in defeat. "I apologise I shouldn't have asked. It's just you are the eldest brother. All news sounds better coming from you. Especially now that you're king" You explain.
"All news sounds better coming from my wife" Maekar smoothly steps in through the door.
"I'll leave you two to it" Baelor politely nods.
You do panic a little, watching Baelor leave. He's a great moderator. His soothing voice puts everyone at ease. He doesn't lie or take sides. It's nice to have someone neutral with you. You sigh, moving your bags, you sit gently on the bed. "Babe I....."
"Don't babe me Y/N" Maekar half shrugs. "Begging my brother to lie?"
"I'm sorry" You tie your braids up into a rough bun. "But I just didn't need another lecture!"
"About how travelling with Lohar is batshit crazy! About how you're not skilled enough to accept an invite!" Your husband points out.
"Yes!" You zip up your fleece. "I know that you don't want me smearing the Targ name. But I need to be challenged. We all need to fail sometimes!"
"Y/N Lohar failures, are twisted with injuries. With broken bones and battle scars!" Maekar pushes your case off the bed to make room for himself. He sits down a few feet away. "This has shit to do with the Targ brand. I'm not against women training"
"Bullshit!" You squeak.
"I'm against my apprentice wife getting hurt. What if Lohar did anything to that pretty face of yours?" The Prince raises his hand to touch you, before thinking better of it. His arm sinks to the bed.
"Please don't patronize me" You implore.
"Then don't lie to me. Or encourage my brother to lie!" His tone grows sharper. "Maybe it's best if you do leave for Lohar"
"Great!" You jump up, and start getting ready again.
"But if you do go, Y/N, don't come back. You'll be receiving divorce papers from my lawyer!"
Maekar gets up and leaves before you can even process the bomb that he's just dropped on you.
