Work Text:
What if they could turn back the clock?
Velvette wanted to turn it back to the morning before the party. Instead of letting Vox take over things like he wanted, she would make sure they wouldn’t let him take that turn. She would take Alastor and Charlie, convince Vox to continue his presenting to everyone. To focus on everyone, like he should have. Like he wanted.
Instead of waiting, she’d prompt him to fire early and she would throw the deer into the first blast into Heaven so he was out of the picture and Vox couldn’t focus on him anymore. All their work wouldn’t have been for naught and Vox would have calmed down. Not tried to kill them and himself.
Yes. She could have prepared for it all if she had a day.
Valentino wanted to turn it back to the day Vox captured Alastor. Figure out a way to keep him in bed? Probably wouldn’t have worked. No, Vox could still have Alastor captured, but Val would have blasted a hole through his head so Alastor couldn’t have responded and keyed Vox up until he reconstituted. Vox would have been upset, but their plan would have gone on.
He wouldn’t have pushed Val and Velvette aside. Wouldn’t be posturing for one person. He would have focused on his own plan, forgiven Val, because Alastor would eventually be back to torment, and Val wouldn’t have seen him cry for want of something Val didn’t understand.
Yes. Val needed at least since then to keep Vox theirs.
Vox wanted to turn it back. Back, back, back… to when? He had always been broken. Turning it back wouldn’t have changed him.
But if he turned it back for enough, he could have Val and Velvette’s trust for one more lifetime.
