Chapter Text
Martyn stood behind the castle, Cleo at his side. His sword felt all too heavy in his hand. The sound of the vampires talking filled his ears. He heard Apo’s name pop up and in their long conversations, however, he didn’t really have the full context of what they were talking about.
He looked towards Cleo, their auburn hair blowing in the wind. The long black bandana blew in the wind behind Martyn’s back. Cleo’s green eyes looked into his blue ones. Martyn dared to take a step forward.
“Sire, I hear somebody!” Pyro says looking around, slightly panicked.
Martyn looked at Cleo as if asking them a question, in all the time they had known each other Cleo had slowly begun picking up on all of Martyn’s little quirks. In return he got a quick nod.
“Ha!” Martyn says running into the castle’s ‘walls’. He used his holy flower ability in order to try to stun the scary vampires. He was just not good enough! He will never be good enough! This attempt failed, he swiftly realized.
Swords clanged in the cold air.
Not too long into the fight he managed to decapitate the eldest vampire, Scott. breathing came to heavy into his lungs, sweat ran down both his and his companion’s bodies. Martyn and Cleo stood in anticipation.
Pyro lingered around them, uncomfortably. Martyn watched in pure and utter horror as Scott put his head back on his neck. The blood made a sickening sound akin to a wild boar screaming in pain, while bone and tissue reconnected itself unnaturally. Before he could react…
Cleo violently grabbed his short cape, temporarily strangling him. His free hand reached for his throat as he saw Pyro’s claw fly in front of him. It seemed like the coward had finally come to fight. Cleo’s grip quickly subsided, releasing him back into motion. Swiftly, he slashed his silver sword, leaving a burning wound down Pyro’s side. Scott ran full force towards Martyn. Fear glinted in his innocent, sky blue eyes. Martyn ran back as fast as he could until he ran right into the castle’s ‘walls’. Stupid!
When he was running he noticed Cleo’s eyes turn red for a second as Pyro drank from their neck. Cleo tried to pull away, their hands clawing desperately at the now feral vampire.
Panic. Panic. Panic.
Scott quickly caught up to Martyn and menaced his fangs and claws. He backed away until his foot found the edge of the bridge.
“No…” Martyn said looking behind him as Scott continued to walk forward.
Suddenly Scott kicked. His boot scrapping against Martyn’s abdomen. Pain and panic flooded Martyn. He screamed, looking for anything to grab hold of. But there was simply nothing. Nothing.
As Martyn fell he sort of accepted his fate. But at the same time he wanted to keep fighting. He wanted to make sure Cleo was okay! He didn’t want to die. That didn’t change the fact he was falling all too quickly to his demise. In that moment he hit the ground, knocking him out, possibly for the last time…
>>>>>>>>>~~~~~~~~~~~~<<<<<<<<<<
Martyn heard a familiar voice shout out his name. But it was awfully foffy and distant like a dream.
“MARTYN! MARTYN WHERE ARE YOU?!” Cleo’s voice filled his empty mind. Once Cleo saw Martyn… you could have heard a pin drop, it was that quiet.
“No… No,Martyn wake up!” They said shaking his body. He wanted to answer them. He wanted to do anything to show that he was listening but his body wouldn’t respond. Nothing was working. Even a scream would have sufficed but Martyn was utterly useless, as always.
“Martyn… no,” they said cupping his slightly warm face with their hands. His mind was screaming to respond, ‘YES IM HERE!’ But nothing. There was nothing.
Cleo began to cry into Martyn’s body, he could hear everything, every breath Cleo took, every vampire talking up at the castle, every time Cleo shifted their body against the grass. Then nothing it was all over. There was nothing left for him anymore...
Was that really true?
