Summary
Mateo stays home sick from school and discovers his mother has already invited over Graham Ellis, an eighteen-year-old classmate who missed the bus and supposedly needs a quiet place to wait for his father. Mateo is white, blond, short, and skinny, with hollow cheeks and a nervous habit of rubbing his wrists. Mateo assumes the situation is merely annoying, but as the day unravels he realizes his mom and Graham are growing closer and there's nothing he can do to stop it....
