“I think this is my favourite day!”
Jane was humming next to him, her head rested on his thigh as she twirled a daisy between her fingers. Dustin had watched as she plucked it from the ground ever so delicately, patting the ground gently with her fingertips afterwards as if she was saying her thanks. Her gentle mannerisms, her soft nature; he didn’t know how he hadn’t noticed before.
“Yeah?”
“I love spending time with you. I feel normal with you,” she replied, turning her head to look up at him with a warm smile.
“I love it too Jane.”
He was going to make sure that every day from then on was her best day.

After the events S4, Dustin is mourning the loss of Eddie. Nobody wants to talk about all they have been through, and grief eats away at his every thought.
Jane is struggling to transition back to living in Hawkins, particularly now that she is back in hiding. With no sense of stability, she is desperate to feel like a normal person, if only for a few moments.
Dustin agrees to tutor Jane, and what starts as two friends supporting each other through their grief becomes a gentle love story.
