Work Text:
A small snowman, only a snowball with two ears alike to Magolor’s, stacked atop another snowball, with hands alike to Chilly's and a blue scarf wrapped around their neck stood in front of the doorway, and looked up to Chilly with wide, curious eyes. And, a small orange butterfly rested on his ear.
Chilly didn’t know what to think.
He knew this young snowman. Magolor and Chilly had made snowmen just a day prior, thanks to Magolor's pestering. And now, one of them had somehow shown up on Chilly’s doorstep.
This must’ve been Magolor’s doing, Chilly figured, because he knew he didn’t make sentient snowmen. And there wasn’t anything invading Popstar at the moment.
…As far as Chilly was aware.
The snowman looked way too young to be living on their own, considering they were not even a day old. Chilly tsked, and offered his hand to the child and in a… gentle enough voice, “I’m Chilly, can you come with me?”
It was Magolor's antics that resulted in this child, so it'd be only natural that the child should be with Magolor.
The child took Chilly’s hand - the butterfly on their ear flying away - as he closed the door behind him, and walked forward in the snow. Luckily, the child followed without much issue, but quickly stopped only a few minutes in on walking, lightly tugging Chilly to a stop. Chilly turned to see that the child was entranced with a snowflake that had.. landed their hand.
Chilly tugged on their hand to catch their attention. "Come on, keep walking."
The child quickly looked up from the snowflake in their hand, offering it to Chilly. The snowflake's patterns were unique, the lines of the snowflake going in and out, in and out before ending. Chilly couldn't help analyzing the snowflake for a second, indulging in the child.
But, Chilly easily snapped out of it, nodding, "It's a snowflake." And pulled the child along again.
And it wasn't long until Chilly felt the child let go of his hand, making Chilly pause in his steps to see what distracted the child this time. They had grabbed another snowflake in their hands, bringing it close to their face to get a closer look.
With how easily this child appeared to get distracted, Chilly could only ask himself, How did this child get to my house?
The child brought it to Chilly again. This time, there were lines connecting the snowflake, where the ones sprouting from the centre continued to branch off each time they met the connecting lines. And, the other snowflake was next to it in the child’s hand.
"They're certainly pretty." Chilly sighed, adjusting their hat. "But, we need to get to your..."
Chilly's eyebrows raised. Actually, what would Magolor's relationship be with the child? Creator? Parent?
"We need to get to the Lor." Chilly landed on, bringing his hand out to the child to take.
For a moment, the child considered Chilly's hand. And one small yellow ball raised, bringing the snowflakes in one hand, and the child took Chilly's hand with their other.
This time, Chilly walked next to the child in front. One pattern with this child was easy to notice. It wasn't long before they got distracted with another snowflake again, trying to catch in their hands.
By the time there was a small pile in the child's hand, Chilly had given his hat to the child to use to hold all the snowflakes without any of them falling. But, Chilly felt a little bald without his hat. He did not enjoy the breeze on his head.
Another thing that would distract the child it turns out, was landmarks. The soft sound of Chilly and the child trudging through the snow paused, because the child pointed towards the creamy soft brown building that was Castle Dedede.
“That’s Dedede’s castle,” Chilly explained, barely giving a glance to the castle to keep walking. "It’s where our self proclaimed king - King Dedede - lives, and Dreamland's residents have gone along with it.”
In about half an hour of the repeated pattern of the child getting distracted and Chilly having to reign the child in, the two had gotten to the Lor’s door with… little trouble. And there was now many snowflakes inside Chilly's poor hat. Chilly pressed the doorbell, and Magolor’s high-pitched voice sung through the speaker above the door. “Who’s there~?”
“We have a child on our hands.” Chilly answered, the door automatically flying up before he had finished speaking. There was the sound of something falling over coming from inside, but Chilly deigned to ignore it. If it wasn't broken, then it wasn't a concern.
The child ran in first, spinning their head around to just see what the Lor's interior looked like as Chilly followed after into the baby blue room, rubbing his head where his hat would be.
And, it wasn’t a minute before Magolor arrived, squeaking out a “We have a what?!” with wide eyes and ears the lowest Chilly had seen them. "..And where did your hat go?"
Chilly pointed to the child, who was still looking around.
A small beat of silence stood between Magolor and Chilly, as Magolor just.. watched the child. One could see the cogs turning in Magolor' head. So Chilly asked, “Did you cause this?"
Magolor’s ears shot up in surprise,“Oh, uhm…” He scratched his ear, chuckling a little. “Yes, but.. Intentionally?”
Not intentionally?
Chilly raised an eyebrow, "What in the stars did you do?”
“Well..” An awkward chuckle came from Magolor, the child coming up to Magolor with Chilly's hat in hand. "When rolling one of the snowballs, I might've... put an energy sphere in one of them? But I didn't expect this! Promise!"
"An... energy sphere?” Chilly tilted his head.
“Oh,” Magolor let out, his eyes a little wide in what one could call surprise. “It’s the uhm, you know, the things that powers the ship. It-"
The child nudged Magolor with his hand, presumably because Magolor hadn't looked down when the child approached him. When Magolor looked down at the child, they brought up Chilly’s hat. Chilly really wanted his hat back.
"Hm, what's this?" Magolor took Chilly's hat, pulling out a snowflake. "They're just snowflakes, why would you collect them?" He handed Chilly's hat back to the child.
The sound of Chilly's hat being placed upon the floor instead of being given to its owner could be heard, and the child brought up two snowflakes for Magolor to look at. Magolor gave a confused hum. "Yeah, each snowflake is different, no two snowflakes would be the same. I still don't understand why you'd want to collect them though."
"I think that's why they've been collecting them, Mags." Chilly offered, already thinking about burying all witnesses that heard 'Mags' including himself under six feet of snow. He immediately tacked on "Also, can I have my hat back?" to avoid that topic.
Despite Chilly's wishes, and the child's confusion, Mags looked up with sparkles in his eyes. "Oh my stars, Chilly!" He giggled, "No way! I'm so happy!"
Chilly wanted to be anywhere but in the Lor.
The child looked between the two a few times while lowering their hands. Ah, It probably didn't make sense to the child, because to them it'd look like 'Mags' was Magolor's name. The child would be spared.
"Magolor." Chilly pulled out, "How about my hat?"
Magolor's body all sunk, almost pouting at Chilly. Of course it was only a few seconds before Magolor turned to the child, humming in thought.
"We can put the snowflakes in a container, I have a few in my kitchen." Magolor suggested, but then added "And if we put the snowflakes in the fridge, they'd last longer." for the child, petting them.
Chilly nodded, "I like that idea." And it seemed like the child did too, as they picked up Chilly's hat with a bit of a buzz in their hands.
Magolor picked up the child, holding them between their hand and the side of their body. It didn't look too uncomfortable. "Then let's go to the kitchen!" Waving Chilly to follow along with his other hand.
Chilly nodded, bringing himself to Magolor's side as the two walked down the hallway to the kitchen, Magolor watching the child pull out every single one of the snowflakes for Magolor to see.
Seeing the two side by side, they really did look similar. The child's scarf frankly helped with the similar appearance a bit, as it covered where a mouth would be, and the two had matching sets of ears. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch for anyone to assume that the child was Magolor's. As the child also held Magolor's same curiosity for things.
Chilly couldn't help but wonder if Magolor had an energy sphere in him too. It'd actually be rather silly, all things considered. But it was silly to think about. But Chilly would also know what an energy sphere is to properly visualize it.
"Magolor," Chilly started, interrupting the child's show and tell. "You never really told me what an energy sphere actually is. What is it? How did it make the child?"
“It works by pulling energy from the surrounding area and storing it inside the…” Magolor trailed off, watching the child. “Ah, nevermind… I’m still really confused about this myself, either way.“ His body was a little closer to the ground as he let out a sigh. “I swear I’ve explained this to you.”
“Have you? I don’t remember anything like that.” Chilly responded as they entered the kitchen.
"I have, I have!" Magolor countered, placing a child atop a chair.las a screech came from the chair that Magolor pulled from under the table. "I'm 90% sure, anyways."
"If you say so?" Chilly just decided to ignore the topic, while Magolor had gently placed the child in the chair. Unfortunately, the child looked a tad too short to be sitting on a regular chair, where their neck was, was the table end. A little taller chair would do that child better. Magolor might've thought the same, might've not.
Magolor was more concerned about getting tupperware from the top cabinets of his kitchen, while Chilly pulled a chair out for both Magolor and himself. Chilly sat across from the child, who was staring at the snowflakes in Chilly's hat.
Magolor hummed one of his strange songs when he took his seat in between Chilly and the child, and placed the tupperware on the table, the lid underneath it. He turned to the child, "Hey," tapping them on the shoulder, he offered, "You wanna put the snowflakes in here?"
The child looked up, their ear twitching. After staring at the tupperware for a few seconds, they brought up Chilly's desperate hat. Magolor took the hat, pouring the snowflakes into the tupperware.
Chilly wanted to take his hat back, badly. Yet, patience is a virtue.
Magolor slid over the tupperware to the child, and told them “I don’t really know what you’d do with these, but hand back the tupperware once you're done.”
Chilly wasn’t surprised Magolor would ask for it back. It was really nice Tupperware. But there were more important things, like Chilly’s hat.
“Can I have my hat.” Chilly asked, but it sounded a little stilted, a bit like a demand. Chilly didn’t mean it, but he was getting a tad impatient.
If Magolor was bothered by it, only his ear flick would betray him, as he took the hat and lifted it above Chilly’s head, dropping it down easily. And, Magolor let out a slight giggle.
And the child let out a soft giggle too?
Magolor turned to the child with a tilt of his head. “Hm? You can speak?” It was a little blunt, but Chilly would be lying if he wasn’t curious too.
The child nodded.
“Well, can you say something for us?”
“No.” The child answered.
Chilly couldn’t help but let out a small snort. Which resulted in having to pretend that he was staring out the kitchen window instead of Magolor, who had snapped his head to stare at Chilly. Magolor wasn't likely to, but Chilly would rather not get cut in half with those gigantic swords Magolor summons randomly.
There was a fine layer of snow across dreamland and thick clouds, as well frost on the window. Yesterday was just like this too, but Magolor had begged Chilly to make snowmen with him, and maybe Chilly gave in. It’s not like he hated making snowmen. It was kind of like making statues, a fine art. So the two had made snowmen, and Magolor had made two snowmen that looked like him and Chilly at the end of the day, which was sweet before Magolor had thrown a snowball at his face. Chilly won that fight.
Magolor pulled back to his chair with a small sigh, bringing Chilly back to the waking world. Chilly had flipped his head back to the table with a little surprise.
Notably, Magolor was watching the child, who was shaking the tupperware. It let out barely a sound, but you could see the snowflakes inside float around.
Until a click of the mouth came from Magolor. "Kid, have you eaten anything?"
The child tilted their head, their ears lazily falling to the side just as Magolor did when he was curious. It was... it could be called cute.
"Uhm... Like, food. Something you consume." Magolor elaborated, giving a motion of eating with his hand, as the child hadn't given an immediate nod nor shake. The child wouldn't be that stupid, but then again, Magolor had a distorted sense of what was 'common sense'.
The child appeared to think, tapping their cheek with their hand, and then shook their head.
Magolor blinked in surprise. Honestly, Chilly would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised himself.
"What? Not at all?" Tapping the table, Magolor practically threw himself off his chair. "I'll get something!"
Magolor floated to the fridge, a soft blue and only a few magnets from when Marx and Kirby gifted him some. And, a small note that was written in what Chilly assumed was Halcandrian, and then another strange language under it. The fridge's door easily opened with a huff, and Magolor reached into the fridge.
What was pulled out was a clear, plastic box of light orange-yellow cookies with flags that were left to right, green, white then orange thick stripes stuck in them. But, all Chilly could think was who keeps cookies in their fridge? Go figure it'd be Magolor himself.
Magolor shut the door close, and slid the cookies onto the table, which at a closer look had chunks of chocolate and something blue in them. When Chilly's eyes flipped to the label. It was titled White Chocolate & Banana Cookies with Blueberry chunks.
What??
“That is…" Chilly paused, considering what to say, "not a flavour I’ve tried before.”
But, Chilly's confusion did not dissuade Magolor, "Don't worry! It's a good flavor!" he hummed and took off the lid with little issue. The smell of the cookies wafted over the kitchen and it was.. certainly a unique smell. Chilly didn't know how to put it, but he certainly had to hide his expression.
The child reached for one despite that, taking a clean bite out of the cookie from no mouth, just as Chilly ate. But Chilly couldn't concentrate on that topic, as Magolor had shoved a cookie into his face.
“here! Try it."
“Uhm..” Chilly pulled back slightly, one of his eyebrows twitching. “I don’t know…”
"Just one bite?" Magolor tilted his head, "A simple taste!"
Chilly thought about it, would Magolor push for Chilly to eat the entire cookie if Chilly didn't like it? Would he? Chilly took the cookie as he thought about this. Honestly, Chilly wasn't interested in making this a problem for himself.
He took a bite out of the cookie as he considered this, the clean cut of a bite as he considered its taste. It was certainly the unique taste that Chilly expected it to be. But.. the blueberry taste stood out the most.
"So? What do you think?" Magolor asked, already having a cookie in his hand.
Oh, Chilly already took a bite of the cookie.
Before Chilly answered, his focus had quickly flitted to the child, who was bouncing up and down, quickly motioning between their own cookie, and Chilly's cookie. The same type of bites.
"The bites?" Chilly asked, just to make sure. When the child nodded, Chilly nodded back. "They're the same because we're both snowmen."
"I'm not so sure about them being entirely snowman, Chilly~” Magolor butted in, cookie somehow gone as he crossed his hands. “We don’t know if they have all the traits of one.”
Chilly sighed, putting his hands on the table, “They’re made of snow, I think that should count them as one.”
“Maybe, but I don’t think you have an energy sphere in you.” Magolor tapped Chilly in between his eyes. “You’re held together by natural ice magic.”
“Can a snowman not just be considered two balls of moving snow?”
“No. Because there’s such things as traits! It’s what makes a difference between me—“ Magolor motioned to himself, “—and say, Taranza, or the kid!” Magolor then motioned to the child in question.
Chilly scoffed, turning to the child, “Well, what would you think.. Uh…” he trailed off, realising that the child didn’t have a name. Or any that he was aware of.
The unnamed child put one of his hands by his scarf, tapping it for a moment.
And then, pointed to Chilly, then pointed back to themself. It was as if to say they were the same.
Magolor scoffed, “The kid appears as one, But there's always more underneath the surface, y'know.”
“I don’t think that's too important, though." Chilly mumbled, scratching his head. Magolor tilted his head, but Chilly only turned back to the child. "Uh, do you have a name?"
The child shook their head, and then tilted their head to the same side they did as last time. Was the child wondering if they had any ideas?
"Do you want us to choose your name?" Chilly asked.
The child nodded.
Okay, the responsibility of choosing a name for another person. That's doable, maybe options would be good, though.
Magolor let out a hum of thought, his eyes closed and adjusted his collar. The sound of a clap came from Magolor's hands and he held them together to his side.
"How about we call him Magolor Jr?"
Chilly leaned forward, covering the bottom half of his face with his hands. And, let out a frustrated groan. That!! was not!! a good!! name!! Magolor!!
"You can't do that." Chilly grounded out.
"Whaat? Then why are people on Popstar called 'Poppy Bros Jr?' Or 'Ticktock Jr?' I should be able to." With a bit of a whine, Magolor then scoffed.
"Because," Chilly sat up, "They look much more similar to their elders compared to you and the child... And you can come up with much better."
That had got Magolor sputtering. Wide yellow eyes looked at Chilly, the child and then Chilly again. Until he caught himself, gave out an awkward squeaky laugh as he scratched his ear. He cleared his throat, "Well- okay, yeah maybe?"
Chilly decided to ignore how awkward that comment was with a nod, and then began to think of names himself. Maybe something to do with snow? Or something like a normal name. Snowball could be a name, but then there were names that could reference those ears so similar to Magolor's. So many potentials. How did Chilly even figure out his own name?
Magolor - who was suddenly closer to the child - giggled, his body shaking along. A small habit of his. Then, he offered out a hand, "How about we make a list of names to choose from?"
"Oh," Chilly blinked, "Yeah, that sounds good. Do we have some paper and pen?"
Magolor hummed, "I've got plenty in the office!"
"Let's go, then?"
"Yeah! ! gotta put these back, though." Magolor closed the box of cookies, and floated over to the fridge, putting it back in and closing the fridge door. Then, he put his hands together when he turned back around. “Now we can go!”
The child took the box, slid off their seat, and let out a little squeak as they hit the ground, if they were bothered, it got immediately replaced with a glimmer of interest as the snowflakes slowly fell to the bottom of the box.
Chilly got off his own seat, pushing his seat in before following the child and Magolor out of the kitchen.
“Uhm,” Magolor’s ears drooped a little as he turned to Chilly, “so, the office might be a little messy, I’m sorry!”
Chilly couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, “You can still see the floor, right?”
“Oh, there’s no issue with the floor, if that’s what you’re worried about!” Magolor answered, entering the office, the child tailing behind him.
Chilly turned to enter the office. The floor was practically pristine, nothing on the star-shaped carpet in the middle of the office. But… The desks, the shelves, somehow even parts of the ceiling were covered with papers, sticky notes, and fraying, crusty, faded papers full of text Chilly couldn’t read.
Even as often as Magolor did this, Chilly always found it surprising. Though, the child didn’t seem disturbed. In fact they were looking around the office and staring at the pile of papers on the desks and walls, including the ones stuck to the ceiling. The consistent curiosity that they've had ever since Chilly had met them today.
"Magolor..." Chilly looked up to the ceiling for a moment, staring at the paper, while Magolor turned his full body around to Chilly.
"Yeah?"
"Uhh, where would blank paper and a pencil be?" Chilly asked, shaking himself out of trying to decipher the language on the paper, and how they even got stuck to the ceiling. Questions that can be left... for another time.
"Hm? I thought you already knew?" Magolor pointed to a shelf that appeared a little neater compared to the rest of the room. "Over there, stationary should be in the drawers."
Chilly adjusted his hat, letting out a cough. "Yeah, I forgot. That's all." Look, Chilly was frankly surprised at how Magolor's office was looking today, okay? Too many questions to ask and Chilly would melt into a puddle.
So, he just went to the shelf out of embarrassment and collected two slips of paper and a tin cup with an assortment of colored pencils inside, but the orange was missing..
Chilly brought the items over, "Magolor, you're missing an orange pencil.”
The child - who had been shaking the box to see the snowflakes fall - paused, and tilted their head when they noticed the cup of pencils.
Magolor’s head also tilted the same way. “Oh! Kirby borrowed the orange one. I’ll have to ask for it back!” He then gave a light giggle. “Also, we kind of have to sit on the floor because… Well.” Magolor didn’t really have to explain why.
“I figured.” Chilly sighed, placing the pen and pencils on the floor. In his peripheral vision, he could see the child looking curiously at the paper and pencil. That’s why he got out the second piece.
Magolor, who went to lean on his stomach when Chilly wasn’t looking, likely picked up on it when he asked “Would you like to draw?” to the child, a hand on his cheek.
Chilly passed along a piece of paper to the child, with the cup of coloured pencils. But the child seemed a little lost, tilting their head as they picked up the purple pencil.
Chilly sighed, taking one of the pencils out of the cup, and placing it on his own paper. “If you press the pencil on the paper,” he then lifted the pencil, revealing a small, green dot, “and it’ll put the colour of the pencil onto the paper.”
The child mimicked what Chilly did, and then drew a line on their paper. It looked a little shaky, but skill comes with practice. They then tried to draw different shapes. That would keep them happy for a while.
Back to the topic, names. “Names…” Chilly mumbled, tapping the pencil on his face.
Magolor grabbed the blue pencil, humming a song Chilly never heard before. Halcandran, maybe? And then wrote ‘Apple’ down on the paper. It wasn’t the worst.
“..Huh.” Chilly tilted his head. Magolor liked apples. Once he returned he was all over apples, especially Gem Apples. It was a little amusing.
Honestly, though… It wasn’t fitting. Maybe something snow based? Oh, Fuyuki meant snow, right?
Chilly wrote ‘Fuyuki’ and ‘Snowflake’ down. The child frankly liked snowflakes, so it wouldn’t hurt. Magolor tilted his head. “Where did you get Fuyuki from?” “Oh, Kirby had shown me papers he got from uh….” Chilly needed to stretch his memory to remember, “…Shiver Star! After the third dark matter incident, I saw that name in it.” It included a list of names for some reason, and Kirby really liked the star for dot points.
Magolor’s ear twitched as he eyed Chilly a little. “How did you even read it?”
“...There was a translation?” To be honest, the list was in a strange language, but strangely, under it was writing Chilly could read. Honestly, Chilly was more thankful for the translation over the fact it’d be a little bit of a mystery. “Maybe there’s someone on Shiver Star that goes around translating.”
“Maybe, translating languages on Shiver Star is quite interesting.” Magolor held his cheeks in his hands. “So many dead languages…”
Chilly looked at the child, who was still messing around with their paper, and then Magolor. “Really?”
“I’m actually learning one of them.” Magolor nodded. “That’s why the office is like… This.” a little nervous squeakish tone came at the end of his sentence, as he motioned to the room.
“Oh, alright?”
“Actually, we might be able to use the language to name them!” Magolor jumped, flying to a part of the office stacked with papers. He flitted over papers quickly, the system making sense to himself and only himself. He stopped over a few times to read over something, then let go, floating back to the child and Chilly.
He then wrote a few strange characters. ‘小巫师’ wasn’t something legible. Luckily for Chilly, Magolor wrote a translation under it. It was… ‘Xiǎo Wūshī.’
Raising an eyebrow, Chilly looked up to Magolor, “What does Xiao Wushi mean?”
“Uhmm…” Magolor tapped his buckle, avoiding eye contact. “Xiao means little…”
A beat of silence. “...And Wushi?” Chilly raised his eyebrow. It was obvious that Magolor was hiding something, but he didn’t really want to lie.
“...Mage?”
“Doesn’t your name mean Mage?”
The silence sat, and even the child could feel the awkwardness.
“We can still come up with other names!” Magolor clapped his hands, clearly trying to hide his sweaty hands.
“Yes, especially you.” Chilly let his tone be pointed, “I know you can come up with better, Magolor.”
A sputter came from Magolor, yellow eyes darting around the room nervously for a few seconds before he brought himself back. “Y-yeah! I can do that!”
The child, who had been watching, tilted their head at Magolor’s fluster.
Letting out a squeaky chuckle, Magolor started tapping his pencil. “How about Baimao?”
“What’s that mean?”
“White cat!” hooded ears perked up as Magolor answered, nodding.
“Okay..” Chilly tapped his bell, thinking. There’d also be another name with that combination.
Magolor wrote down '白猫', with ‘Báimāo’ under it. The characters were both very nice; actually. But it did give Chilly an idea.
“What about ‘little cat’? What would that be?” Chilly asked, his bell ringing as he tilted his head.
Yellow eyes shined a little at the question, “Well, that’d be Xiaomao. But..” Magolor giggled, covering his mouth. “It’s cute!”
Magolor wrote down ‘小猫’, with the pronunciation underneath. That made about six names. Apple, Snowflake, Fuyuki, Xiaomafo, Baimao and Xiaomao. That was a small selection, but good enough to choose from, hopefully
“Alright, I think that’s a good amount.” Chilly hummed, looking over to the child.
The paper the child was drawing on was… full of scribbles. That would be a given with a child, so it wasn’t too bad. Though, there was a cute little undecipherable doodle in the corner, but certainly had plenty of colours. Red, Yellow, purple, black, and blue. Wait, where did the child steal the blue from? What? Nevermind.
“Hey,” Chilly called, getting the child’s attention. “We have a few names you can choose from?”
Magolor brought the paper up, for the child to see. A gloved hand started to point to the names on the list. “There is Apple,” the child tilted their head at that one, “Fuyuki, Snowflake –” eyes raised at that one, their attention is definitely caught if not for a moment. “–Xiaomafo, Baimao,” And the child’s ears perked at that one, “Aaand, Xiaomao. Which do you like?”
For a moment, the child tapped their scarf in thought, then brought themself to stand, and tapped on Baimao.
“Do you want to be called Baimao?” Chilly asked, tilting his head.
The child nodded in response, their eyes squinting as if in a smile.
Magolor clapped, completely forgetting about the list of names, which slowly floated to the floor without ceremony. “Wow! That was so easy! I thought it would be harder.” Taking the child’s hand in both his hands, Magolor shook them. “Baimao! Your name means white cat!”
Baimao jumped up and down at it, Magolor nodding along. They seemed really happy about it, too. It was sweet to see. Chilly wouldn’t mind sitting around if it was something like this.
“By the way, Magolor.” Chilly spoke up, Magolor jumping at his voice. “Why were there pronunciation marks on the words?”
Ears perking up, Magolor giggled “Because, it’s a tonal language! I can explain more, if you like?”
Chilly looked over to Baimao. They seemed interested, focusing on Magolor. So, Chilly turned back over to Magolor. “Yeah, okay sure. I’m happy to listen.”
Yellow eyes lit with all the glee one could have when sharing something that Magolor poured probably hours- days studying. “It’s been really fun despite how difficult it’s been to learn, because not only is it tonal, every word has its own character…”
Chilly wish he could say he didn't zone half of the hours long lesson out. But it was enough for him to not bother going home.
