Ruby immediately stiffens, straightening to her full height. She doesn’t turn around, one of her hands pressing against the wall in front of her, too forceful to be unintentional.
“Yeah?” She responds, her tone attempting a mimicry of cheerful nonchalance.

“I’m fine.” Ruby cuts her off. “I-I’m fine. Okay? You don’t need to… do that.”
