Chapter Text
This timing couldn’t be worse. Piper eventually moved on after Jason, but Leo never could. Then, during his grief, he noticed Calypso slipping away. She needed more, more education, more sophistication, and more stability. Leo can’t even blame her for leaving, he would too, but he also needed stability, and instead he lost everything.
He was finally starting to weld again, to eat without vomiting, and to talk to his siblings again, when he saw him. It was Jason Grace; his blonde hair paler, his body leaner, and his chest more scarred. Leo’s vision fogged up. He sprinted toward the boy and wrapped his arms around him.
“Jason, is it really you?” Leo sobbed into his chest.
“Of course not,” he says smiling down at him. “Wake up.”
Leo sits up in his bed. He’s had this dream before, and it hurts just as bad as last time.
“Mierda.” He pounds his first onto his knees and raises his voice from a whisper to a shout. “Mierda. Mierda. Mierda! MIERDA!”
...
Leo is in Bunker 9, when he hears a knock at the door. He’s tired as fuck, not being able to sleep and all, but he still answers.
“Come on in.” He yells out, not even turning his head.
“Hey Leo, I’m back...” That voice sounds really familiar. Leo turns his head around.
“OH, DIOS MÍO!” Leo sharply breathes in, “Jason..." Suddenly he’s running toward his best friend, back from the dead.
“It’s good to see you too.” Jason says in response to the violent hug Leo is giving him.
“It’s really you, right?” Leo is crying, face buried in Jason’s chest.
“It is.”
...
“So, Calypso, left you?” Jason was confused why she would want to ever leave Leo.
“That’s about it, since you’ve been gone. Oh- Piper also got a- girlfriend...” Leo was done catching Jason up to speed and was very nervous about potentially outing Piper.
Jason felt conflicted about that but tried not to think about it too hard, only saying, “Good for her.”
...
“Dude, I fucking missed you,” Leo says pressing his forehead against Jason’s side. His eyes were slightly wet, because they had been talking for hours, and he couldn’t help but get emotional.
“Me too. I was lonely.” Jason lazily looks at him and smiles. He looks down and sees his best friend's arms. There were scrapes, cuts, bruises, and burns. He grabs his hand and looks at him in the eye. Leo looks away quickly and the tears start to fall.
