Chapter Text
My name is Silver Vanrouge.
As soon as I turned 18-year-old, I suddenly gained the ability to hear the thoughts of people I touch.
Everyday almost feels like torture for Silver—especially lunchtimes during it's busiest time. The number of students he accidentally bumps into ends up leading him to hear their thoughts. Or more like complaints.
(Man, it's too crowded here!)
(Seriously, do people here not know how to give way?!)
(This line is moving too slow~ I'm getting hungry!)
It was nothing but overwhelming for Silver. It was like hearing Sebek's complaints times a hundred, except that's something he was used to since they were kids and usually he'd end up falling asleep. However with this ability, hearing the thoughts of many students' minds mainly kept him awake throughout lunch.
Silver sighs at this curse he suddenly gained at 18. "What's the matter, Silver? You seem to be out of it right now?" A short fae asked the silver-haired male. "Sorry, Father... my head is just sore as of now.." Silver answered. "What?! Are you sick Silver?!"
"No, my head is simply sore from the crowd of students here at the cafeteria." He calmly explained to Lilia, whose face drops with relief upon hearing his answer. "Is that so? Well, we should get our food so we can leave this crowd if it stresses you!" The vice housewarden placed his hand on his son's back. This contact eventually enables his ability to activate again. (The poor boy. I hope he isn't lying to me right now.) Silver heard his father's thoughts, (We all only just returned back to school after everything that had happened, so his mindset is probably still not out of that yet...)
With everything he heard from Lilia, the silver-haired doesn't want him to think this is the reason for his behavior right now. But telling him about his new ability will simply make him worry more or even feel weirded by it, since he's basically invading someone's private thoughts about him.
He brushes everything off and gives Lilia a smile, "Yes we should, father." Silver responded with a nod, and turned at the food options the Ghost chefs are serving. Immediately eyeing his favorite dish, the risotto and placing it onto his lunch tray. He walks over to Lilia, "I'm ready to go."
"Risotto again? You really can't enough that, Silver!" Lilia chuckles, "They're my favorite! Even after the days we've been gone, I'm surprise the mushrooms are still as exquisite from the last time I had it." The two Diasomnia students chatted as they try to navigate through the crowd of students. His headache becoming more painful as the thoughts of others echoing inside his head. (The voices are hurting my head... I can't think straight.)
(Silver got the Risotto again...) Silver's eyes widened as he turned his body quickly, "Wha?! Silver why are you suddenly turning your back?!" Lilia jolted at his son's sudden movement. (Strange... I could've sworn I heard someone talking about my risotto...) he attempted to search for the person that may have mentioned him in their thoughts but considering that he passed through a large number of students. It was quite impossible to specify which student mentioned him.
"Silver~ Are you awake?" The fae brings him back to reality with a wave, the tall knight blinks at Lilia's hand moving at his face. "Sorry, father..."
"We shouldn't cause a traffic at the cafeteria."
"Right. Sorry again, Father." He apologizes again, and continued walking until he remained to a space at one of the long tables.
Now that he was out of the crowd of people, his head was much clearer than before, only hearing the thoughts of his own father, anytime he accidentally touches him but only for a little bit as he doesn't want to invade too much of his thoughts without his permission.
When lunch had ended, the knight and fae split their ways to head to class.
Class time isn't as overwhelming compared to lunch. He hears a few thoughts from his classmates through some unavoidable contact like passing paper in class, or ingredients during alchemy. Most of the thoughts he hear is mainly Kalim's. It's not on purpose, but he almost has no choice when his friend is known to always show a lot of physical touch to most of his friends. Especially for someone like Silver who he shares class with everyday.
The school day ends, he heads to the library to search for a book for an assignment given by Trein in one of his classes. His club had been postponed to another date, so he considered this was the perfect opportunity to issue the book he was assigned before other students in his class grabs hold of it, and maybe starting the assignment already was probably the best thing to do so doesn't fall asleep and forget about it until the deadline.
The library was also one of the quietest places throughout the campus, since not much students come in. So, his ability doesn't randomly start activating if he accidentally bumps into anyone around. "Where could it be?" He observes the bookshelf all around, trying to find a book that could help him with his assignment. "Ah, there!" Silver says, reaching for it on the high row until he spots another hand reaching for the same book. "Oh?" Silver turned his head at the person next to suddenly next to him, "Oh my, what coincidence we have stumbled across." The other said with an innocent smile on his face.
Standing beside Silver was a taller student wearing an Octavinelle uniform. "Jade, hello." The silver-haired gives a bow as a greeting of their encounter. "I'm guessing Mr. Trein gave your class the same assignment too considering we tried to reach for the same book."
"It looks to be the case." Silver added. Jade reached the book effortlessly at his height, and brings it to Silver's face. "Here, you probably want it more than I do." The merfolk offered, Silver shook his head, and gestures with his hand. "N-No. It's fine you can take it if you wanted to read it.." He politely declined, but he watched as his classmate shook his head at him back. "No, I insist I can just find another copy to use or ask Riddle."
Silver stares at him and then at the book, feeling a little guilty at Jade's act of kindness, but takes the book off his hand from his command.
But was too focused at his guilt that he forget about his curse and touched Jade's hand by accident, activating the ability. (Ah... I'm glad that I met up with him today...)
(Shoot!) The knight realized at the last minute and drops the book he held from Jade's hand. "S-Sorry!" He stumbled his words and his balance, knocking the books that was stacked on a chair. "Oh seven!" Silver shouted, crouching to pick up the books he dropped. "Dear, you aren't usually this clumsy Silver." Jade had an amusing smile on his face as he watched his inconvenience, he crouches down without a word and Silver assists Silver with the mess he caused.
While cooperating to tidy the books to the right place, Silver quietly stared at Jade's profile. (I could've sworn I heard him think about how he met up with someone today, and the way he thought about it too sounded like he meant it at heart...) he thought to himself as he continued to pick up the books. He thinks of anyone off the top of his mind.
It was greatly impossible as Silver didn't know anyone who was close to Jade. Probably Azul and Floyd but he doubts that it is them.... Riddle? No, Riddle despises Jade's behavior. The prefect at Ramshackle seems like a possibility who Jade could be thinking about.
Upon thinking too hardly on who, Silver loses focus which encountered to another coincidence where he and Jade attempted to grab the same book at the same time. Resulting to Silver accidentally touching his hand. "Oh." Both sophomores reacted together, "Sorry-" (Wow! I'm touching his hand now..!)
Silver jolted at the sound of his classmate's voice, looking at Jade once again but straight at his mismatched color of his eyes. Jade was staring him back too, but with a blush on his face. (What are the chances that we ended up touching hands! Everything from his face and his hair is beautiful, I couldn't stop watching him during lunch when he ate the risotto and appreciate the mushroom I supplied!)
Silver had a dumbfounded look on his face.
(.... What?)
