Chapter Text

Rays First Period
By: Raybiez

I groan and roll over, checking the digital clock on the wall above the door. 4:06am. I hold my stomach, curling up into a ball. My stomach was killing me.

I tried to just sleep it off, huddling in my blankets and whining while I continued to hold my stomach. I heard Shinso stir in his sleep before sitting up and looking across the room to my own loft bed.

“What’s all the whining and crying for? It’s…” he rubbed his eyes while he checked the same clock above the door. “4:30 in the damn morning… go back to bed…”

“I can’t,” I whined pitifully. “My stomach is killing me…”

“And the sky is blue, say something else for once, Ray.” He muttered tiredly. I huff at his smartass response.

“It’s different this time! It hurts way worse than usual…” I complain, getting hit with another wave of unbearable pain in my lower abdomen. I sniffle a bit. “I must be dying…” I wail.

Shinso rolls over and covers himself with his blanket. “Just go see dad and papa if it hurts that much… quit bothering me about it.”

I hug my knees to my chest. I was so tired but I obviously wasn’t able to sleep while being in such pain. I decide to take shinsos advice and go to our parents room to wake them up. I continue to whimper as I walk down the stairs and down the hallway to their bedroom.

I knock softly before I open the door. Their room was somewhat messy. Hero gear here, and hairspray there. I rub my eyes, trying to see in the dark as I stumble over to their bed. It didn’t help that I didn’t have my glasses on either.

“Dad?” I reach down to try to shake aizawa, but his spot was empty. Right, he was on patrol tonight. I climb up onto the bed in his spot to reach Mic.

“Papa… papa” I shake him awake gently. He wakes up fairly quickly, rolling over to look at me with a concerned expression on his face.

“Yeah? What’s wrong?” He puts a gentle hand on my forearm.

“My stomach hurts. Really badly…” I whine, pointing to my lower abdomen. Mic furrows his eyebrows, watching me point to where it hurts.

“There?” I nod, looking all sad. Mic rubs his eyes, putting on his glasses. “Lift your shirt slightly, show me exactly where it hurts…” he spoke in a gentle and soft tone. I do as asked, pointing to the spot right in the middle of my lower stomach.

“Am I dying?” I ask frantically after a bit of silence.

“Huh? No, no no you’re not dying.” He half laughs. I don’t laugh back. “I know what’s wrong.”

“Then what’s wrong?!” I whine. Mic sits up in bed, turning on the lamp on the bedside table.

“You’re more than likely about to start your period.” He explains, gesturing for me to come closer and lean against him.

“What? But I’m a boy! Boys don’t get periods…” I argue. Mic pulls me closer, rubbing my back soothingly.

“Well, unfortunately Ray, your body doesn’t know that. You’re at that age where these things happen.” I just pout and look away, trying to avoid the conversation.

“This sucks…” I mutter. “I have to bleed once a month now? Bullshit…”

“Hey hey, language young man!” Mic teased, though he didn’t deny that periods were shitty.

“Listen, you can talk to your dad about it in the morning. He’s the one who has experience with this. For now, I’ll get you some ibuprofen and you can put a towel down in your bed and try to get some sleep.” He said, putting a kiss on my forehead and motioning for me to get out of bed so he could bring me something for the pain.

Shortly after, mic returned with some ibuprofen and a glass of water. I quickly took it, desperate to make the pain go away. I wiped my mouth on the sleeve of my hoodie and mumbled a small thank you.

Mic ruffled my hair a bit and set the glass of water on the nightstand. “You’re welcome kiddo…” he switched off the lamp, plunging the room into darkness again. “Now go back to bed, you need sleep.” He gently guided me out of the room, but I paused in the doorway.

“I don’t want to go back to my room…” I mumble, fidgeting with my hands. I hear mic sigh softly behind me, rubbing my back.

“That’s alright, you can sleep in Sho’s spot. Go get your stuffed animal while I get a towel laid down on the bed.”
