Chapter Text
"Quiet Zen."
....Creeaaaaakk
SLAM.
The two sounds that indicated someones arrival to the entire house, became far more specified to a single inphernal that had the keys to the apartment.
Rocket.
Exhausted, worned out Phighter finally made his way back to his shared apartment, the only of two places where he doesn't have to listen someone ramble about their problems. Complain about something out of his power, be ungrateful for the service he gives them.
He would blow the whole Crossroads to ashes, if he only had the explosives to do so...
...
But then theres the shop. And money.
Rocket let out a groan as he caught himself thinking about something stupid again. Things he didn't want to focus on. Wanted to avoid for the rest of the night, atleast.
The faint sound of working television, and turned on lights indicated someone elses presence, the only other person that gained access to this apartment.
And that someone was exactly who Rocket needed currently, desperately so. And after the struggle of doing the bare minimum, he pushed himself forward.
"Oh, hey Rocket!-"
"Rocket?— Woah, hey! Easy!"
The phighter sank into the avians chest without a single word spoken. Their face was already buried too deep against them to try and pry them off. Only acceptance of their new fate was the only way out of this situation.
Sword, the said avian...Still had hard time proccessing the sudden show of affection, or clinginess, from Rocket.(Who didn't actually allow himself to be too touchy with Sword) His arm reached out to try and shake Rocket off of him, but his fingers already curled away from him, too hesitant to actually disturb his boyfriend.
"Um. Rough day, huh?"
The rumble Sword got was already enough by itself to guess the answer. The avian shifted on the couch, getting himself comfortable.
One wing laid ontop of Rocket, a feathery blanket that made sure he was warm for the night. As...Sword would guess, Rocket wouldn't be moving anytime soon. His hand, the same one that attempted to shake the Phighter off, was now running through the mess Rockets hair has become. Not to tame it, but he really wanted to.
"You..wanna talk about it?"
"...No."
Rocket attempted to bury his face deeper into Swords chest. It didn't... exactly work as intended, but the warm, and soft embrace was already enough to make him sigh out just the tiny bit of exhaustion out of his body.
Sword turned his gaze to the side, the light of Television and the suddenly whisper-yelling background noise settled into Swords mind.
His hand lifted the controller to turn it off, only to be interrupted by another stir.
"Mmm...Don't."
"You sure, Rocket? I can turn it off if its loud."
The phighter nodded their head against the avians chest.
("Alright. Hes just being cute on purpose...")
"Okay."
The atmosphere inside became quiet. Not the suffocating one, awkward either. But something close to a lullaby.
Sword found himself lost caressing Rockets hair while he rambled on about something stupid. He didn't know what he was talking about anymore. Was he talking at all? Hard to say when your mind is slowly drifting into sleep.
And Rocket...
The phighter that just returned from his shared business with his Father. The noisy reality of customers with high expectations and unbearable ego.
He returned home, just to listen for his feathered boyfriend to talk nonsense into his ear. A noise that surprisingly mixed well with the TV that was set as quiet as it could be.
So what if its the same thing?
So what if it familiar to the endless rambling he had to deal with while he worked with other Inphernals? He didn't care. He was a hypocrite. But that was the least of his concerns.
Atleast now, he had someone to ramble into his ear about not themselves, but anything else that counted as talking, then ego-center.
It was nice, afterall.
...
Too nice.
He should probably leave a note to himself to never do this again. Ruins his image too much.
Okay, maybe if he was as tired as today. Then maybe he could allow it.
Its too hard to deny it. Not when he could drown himself in feathers.
