This was originally one 3500-word chapter, split it into 3 chapters when I decided to separate it out as its own fic. Decided to go ahead and post it during this week, just a short chapter today.

Chapter 1: Mediterranean Waters

Chapter Text

On Sunday, they took a 3-hour train ride down to Marseilles where they boarded the yacht, which had conveniently made the journey around Spain during the time they were in Paris.  Tim and Bernard were joining them for a vacation for the next week or so.  It was nice to relax after the stress of the important work they were doing in Paris.

The four of them spent about a week having a peaceful vacation on the yacht as they took a meandering path towards Greece.  The yacht now had a completely full staff with 4 Stewardesses, they’d picked up some new ones in France.  One morning, Tim noticed the hickeys on Percy’s neck and made a comment that he was glad the sound proofing on their master suite was working as intended.  Both couples enjoyed spending quality time together, with them mostly interacting as a larger group at mealtimes.

Percy practiced his open water swimming; he swam 20km to the large island Corse, meeting the ship there, then they all had a picnic on an isolated beach there.  They stopped at Naples, where Tim and Bernard went out for a daytrip to do tourist stuff while Percy and Jason relaxed on the yacht.  Another day, Tim and Bernard took out the jet skis, playing around on them while Percy swam in the open ocean.

Jason had Percy on a specific meal plan to ensure he was eating enough for the amount of exercise he was doing and also was bulking up a bit.  The open water swimming was actually easier if he had slightly more body fat, so he was trying to bulk some.  Though, not too much because he also planned to compete in diving.

They sailed around Sicily and Percy did another marathon swim to Malta, once again meeting the boat there.  He ate a fair many of the high-calorie granola bars on days he did his marathon swims since it wasn’t very feasible to eat enough with normal food.  He needed to eat midway through on these marathon swims so Jason was out on the jet ski and gave him the snack along with hydration he needed.  Percy trained with his inhibitor earring in to really gauge where his ability was at.

They stopped for a day in Crete and Percy actually decided to do some touristy stuff there.  Percy found it interesting to learn more about the ancient religion of the Minoans; much was not known of them, but it seemed quite different from even Mycenean Greeks.  He found he could not read the “Linear A” language on some of the artifacts, even though he could generally mostly understand the Mycenean “Linear B” old form of Ancient Greek.  Percy tried not to think too much of his old enemy the Minotaur.

They sailed to Athens, arriving there on Saturday July 18th.  Tim and Bernard would be leaving them there; they would be taking the rest of the day and tomorrow morning to do tourist stuff in the city of Athens before they would be flying back to America.  The yacht would have a few days off while Jason and Percy stayed in Greece.  They rented a car, it was about an hour’s drive from Athens down to their villa in Sounion, near the Temple of Poseidon.

They had a quiet night together at their villa.  Jason suggested getting a sun shade installed to cover their patio and pool area and Percy agreed it would be nice.  Jason said he would take care of it tomorrow while Percy was going to visit Vi.  That night in his dreams, Percy made contact with Vi and told her he was planning to physically visit for a short while tomorrow.
