Married Man

Summary:

Jason wakes up and isn't alone. Not completely uncommon but it's weird that he doesn't remember bringing someone back to bed with him. Whoever they are they're certainly easy on the eyes. Whatever, Jason will just go back to sleep and deal with it later. It's probably nothing.

JTW Day 5: Vegas Married

Notes:

This cracked me up and has major multichap potential. Honestly tho I have no spoons to spare for a new multichap so on the off chance someone gets inspired feel free to go for it

Enjoy!

Work Text:

When Jason woke up this morning he stretched nice and big. The feeling of muscles straining in a good way had him sighing and relaxing back into bed. His eyes were still closed, threatening to go back to sleep. A post-sleep nap wouldn't hurt right?

He snuggled back down into the fluffy duvet cover and felt himself curl around something warm. Jason froze. There was a body in his bed. Said body shifted closer and relaxed into Jason, clearly comfortable. Jason's head swam trying to remember what exactly he had been doing last night. His eyes opened and a tuft of soft, black hair poked out of the covers in front of him. Slowly, Jason lifted the covers just enough to see who he had fallen into bed with. Underneath laid a slender body. Not skinny, but well toned. However the dip in the waist right about the person's hips admittedly had him itching to rest his hands there.

Whoever they were, they were certainly easy on Jason's eyes.

Carefully he lowered the covers and snuggled back down once more. Obviously he had gone to bed with this person and while it wasn't often that he slept with someone it did happen. Waking up without knowing who he had spent the night with was a little rarer but he could feel the edge of a pretty big hangover building so anything was possible. Jason closed his eyes and allowed his breathing to even out. He could stay like this forever for all he cared. The bed was warm with their shared heat but his pillow was cool as he hunkered back down.

Jason was just about to fall back asleep when he felt the person beside him stiffen. He internally sighed as he prepared for whatever interaction may come. Out of every reaction he anticipated, the one he got was not on the list.

“Oh what the fuck!” Said a smooth male voice as the sleeping beauty shot up.

Jason sighed out loud this time as he rolled onto his back and rubbed at his eyes, “Look dude, you could've at least been quiet about it. I was almost asleep.”

“Jason? What the hell are you doing here?” came the voice.

Shit. This wasn't a one night stand. This person knew him. Knew his name. He mentally began running through everyone it could possibly be but now that he was fully awake his hangover was giving him a raging headache. Which in turn made thinking quite challenging.

He sat up with a stretch, a groan, and a yawn then opened his eyes, “What the fuck.”

Tim Drake stared back at him with a completely unamused expression, “What are you doing here?”

Jason huffed, “Okay, well, I am in my hotel room. If anything I should be asking you what you are doing here.”

The other opened his mouth only to pause, “Okay… point. Why are we in bed together?”

At that Jason felt a little less confident, “Well…”

Tim didn't seem particularly repulsed at the notion of sleeping with him. Just… confused. To be fair, Jason was too.

“We didn't sleep together.” Tim said with finality.

He raised an eyebrow, “You seem sure.”

Tim hummed, “I still have on the clothes I was wearing last night and you may be shirtless but you probably still have your pants on if I had to guess. Plus there's no, uh, evidence.”

Jason snorted, “Sure. That doesn't explain why we woke up in bed together though. Especially since I didn't even know you were here in Vegas.”

“Red Robin is working a case, some sort of fraud-trafficking thing.” the younger said, filling him in.

His eyes narrowed, “It wouldn't happen to be a case about a guy trafficking newly weds would it?”

Tim nodded, “Yeah why?”

Jason groaned, “Because I'm here working that.”

An eyeroll, “We're getting off track.”

He sighed and waved a hand, “Whatever, at this point does it really matter?”

Silence greeted him in response. Jason looked back just in time to see Tim staring at him with an unreadable expression on his face. Then he watched as Tim glanced down towards his hands then back up at Jason.

“I think I know why we were in bed together.” Tim said in a light, nervous way.

“Well spill it.” Jason tacked on.

Tim held up his hand where a simple gold band decorated his ring finger, “I think we got Vegas married.”

Jason scoffed and looked at his own hand only to see a similar band. Well fuck.

“Well fuck.” He said intelligently.

Tim snorted, “It's fine, we can just go get ‘divorced’.”

The younger had used his fingers to make air quotes. Jason huffed a small laugh but felt anxious over the idea of it.

“You know…” Jason started slowly, “We could just stay married.”

“You can't be seriously considering that.” Tim said, baffled.

He shrugged, “I mean, there's tax benefits.”

Tim cut in, “Do you even pay taxes?”

Jason continued undisturbed, “No, but you do. And besides, it's not like waking up next to a good view is a downside.”

This time when Tim went to speak he choked on his words, mouth hanging slightly ajar in shock. He sputtered at a loss of words. Jason gave a smug grin.

“Okay. That's…” Tim managed to spit out, flustered and a little red in the face.

The third Robin took a deep breath to recompose himself before speaking again. Jason refrained from saying something smug.

“Aside from that,” Tim said pointedly, “Maybe it wouldn't be bad to pose as a newly married couple on their honeymoon.”

Jason hummed, “Oh now you want to play into it.”

Tim rolled his eyes, “No, I'm talking about the case. If we pose as a prime target, newlyweds, then maybe we can have an ‘in’ for this case.”

The older nodded, “Makes sense. Sounds good to me.”

“Then after we can divorce.” Tim reminded him.

Jason said nothing, making a concomital noise. Tim took it as an agreement. It was settled then. They'd pose as newlyweds, and technically they were already weren't they? Then they would infiltrate the trafficking ring. It was a solid plan. Red Hood and Red Robin would have the case solved by the end of the week then they could go home and put the ring business behind them. Easy. Simple. Nothing could go wrong. It would be no big deal.

Yet there was a tiny, little hole in the plan.

Jason felt his chest ache a little at the thought of breaking off the marriage. It wasn't even real so what did it matter? He didn't understand why it rubbed him wrong.

He brushed off the feeling and grabbed his missing shirt off the hotel room floor. He pulled it over his head and missed the way a pair of eyes roamed over muscle and scarring appreciatively.

Neither knew it, but they were both royally screwed.

Notes:

Tim: it's fine. This is fine. We can just get divorced.
Jason, thinking back to Tim's sleeping figure: :(
