Work Text:
You rush to the kitchen. Take out the small pack of Jacobs crackers. You want butter on them, but it's too late. You take a couple of dry crackers out the packet.
"I know you'll be late, but we have the Riviera booked tonight. Try not to be horrendously late" Maekar clears his throat.
"Will do!" You walk out the door, racing towards your driver.
It's a stressful day at work. You work in the promotional sector of Targcorp and it's pretty obvious that no matter what kind of promo the team does, stocks are sinking. After a few sporadic emails with Baelor, it's pretty clear he going to make some cuts. You work on a powerpoint presentation late into the afternoon, ignoring your alarm for the reservations.
You get to the Riviera, late. By your husband's expression. He looks up from his starter, as you begin to apologise.
"Ten minutes, an improvement" He said flatly as he finger clicks a waitress to come over.
The Riviera has been shut down for them, the furniture is a classy mix of cream and beige. With chandeliers and circular tables. You smooth out your napkin over your lap. The waitress takes your order, you decide on a main meal instead.
"What? No crackers?" Maekar smirks.
"I was thinking about booking a few days in Mexico, for Lucienne's birthday" You say as you get a Chicken burger with cheese surrounded by Cajun fries.
"Lucienne doesn't really celebrate that stuff" Maekar sips on a shandy.
"Exactly. She usually just works as usual and I'd like to set up something different" You cut your burger in half. Picking up a half.
"Y/N, She'll never say yes" Your husband gets a waiter and orders his main meal. "Why bother?" He gets out his phone. "Are you gracing me with your presence tonight, or what?"
You'd been sleeping in the Acorn Bay wing, because you were on your laptop a lot at night and you didn't want to wake your husband up. Occasionally you'd go back in the early hours of the morning, but it was no secret that the Acorn room was your unofficial office. A smart TV had been moved in and staff had set up a wardrobe, so you didn't have to go back and forth to change. You stare at him, probably answering his text messages.
"Weren't you the one that said no phones?" You note.
"Weren't you the one that said "No more lateness?" Maekar raises his eyebrows. He goes back to typing on his phone like you aren't there.
You get back home annoyed. You go to the Malhoun room where Maekar keeps his cloaks. You slide a few down the rail. Take out one. You put it on your bed and go and take a shower. You slip on thick underwear and wrap the cloak around you. It fits like a heavier silkier dressing gown. With Mexico still on your mind you go to one of the office rooms to call your friends.
"Yes, I know Luce doesn't really like trips......"
"Desire you don't have to pay, it's my......" You pause sitting in the chair upright as Maekar stands in the doorway. "I'll call you back" You end the call, much to Desire's annoyance. "How can I help?" You ask him like you're a night shift employee.
He's in casual black and red wear, and looks like he's just had a shower himself.
"You appear to be wearing my cloak" Maekar states closing the door.
"Yes?" You say slowly.
"Take it off" He vigorously jerks a finger at you.
"I can't, I've got nothing on" You shrug impatiently.
"Y/N take it off" The Prince repeats like he hasn't heard you.
Irritated, by the way he's spoken to you tonight. You stand against the desk and shake your head.
"Mae honestly suck a dick!" You yell.
"Come again?" He barks in disbelief.
"I've just told you I'm naked! You know that security walk up and down at night, and my room's quite far from here!"
"I don't expect........" He said.
"No, I'm not taking this off, and embarrassing myself to make you giggle. You were on your phone half the time tonight at dinner, what was the point of me being there? I won't wear the cloaks anymore. Tomorrow this will be dry cleaned and back on your rack. Happy?" You rant, folding the cloak tighter against you.
"Y/N it's not abo....." Maekar objects, but you're not listening.
You march out with your phone back to the Acorn Bay room. It looks like the Acorn room isn't just going to be a spare office room anymore.
