Summary
For over a century, the Targaryens have ruled Westeros through the power of dragons. By 112 AC, King Viserys I presides over an age of prosperity, surrounded by formidable figures such as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Ser Otto Hightower, and Lord Corlys Velaryon. Yet in the West another power rose: Lord Tywin Lannister. After crushing the Reyne-Tarbeck Revolt in a ruthless campaign that annihilated two ancient houses before Viserys's coronation, Tywin secured the Westerlands and restored his House but earned the distrust of many figures, leaving him isolated from court.
His children, however, were not. After Lady Joanna Lannister died giving birth to Tyrion, Queen Aemma—once Joanna's closest friend—persuaded Viserys to bring Jaime and Cersei to the Red Keep. Cersei entered the Queen's household while Jaime became Prince Daemon's squire. Raised alongside Princess Rhaenyra and Lady Alicent, the twins forged friendships at the heart of the realm.
As Viserys hosts a great tourney celebrating the imminent birth of Viserys' heir, Jaime seeks glory, Cersei faces eager suitors, and far away at Casterly Rock, Tywin prepares his greatest ambition: placing Lannister blood upon the Iron Throne.
