This is a crossover of COD and REC (2007), where you and Simon are caught in the middle of the outbreak as it spreads across Europe.

It was the visceral sort of rage he hadn’t felt in a long time, not since he’d come home to see Tommy’s body left to rot. He had to take a deep breath in through his nose to quell it, reminding himself that you were safe and sound down below.
He’d keep the silent vow he’d made the day he accepted you into his life. You wouldn’t be another name on his list of tragedies.

I highly recommend watching the movies but it's not a requirement, the events of the REC 1 & 2 are very lightly covered in the fic (just enough to establish the setting).
