To Pick a Hero

Summary:

"If you could fuck or date one hero, who would it be?"

Everyone at the bar looked up from their drinks to turn towards Shigaraki. Moments before their shared space had been comfortably silent, now it felt suffocating.
-
The League of Villains goes over their hero “hear me outs” (except they’re hardly hear me outs).

Notes:

I wrote this in like 2 hours after getting a silly little idea for it while trying to sleep, so I wrote this instead of sleeping so I didn’t forget it.
As always if I forgot any tags or made any mistakes feel free to tell me in the comments. I love constructive criticism.

Work Text:

"If you could fuck or date one hero, who would it be?"

Everyone at the bar looked up from their drinks to turn towards Shigaraki. Moments before their shared space had been comfortably silent, now it felt suffocating.

"Izu-"

"We know!" A chorus of voices stopped Himiko in her tracks. She turned away and blew bubbles into her juice through the straw.

The silence returned, more thoughtful this time. Himiko was brave enough to speak up, so the others decided to ponder the question as well. She'd feel awkward if she was the only one who responded, even if everyone knew her answer beforehand.

"Mirko's pretty hot. So her I guess," Spinner finally answered.

Magne huffed a laugh, "Playing it safe are we?"

"Oh yeah? Let's hear yours!"

Magne leaned back and sighed, "Ryukyu, dragon form specifically."

"Okay you're just saying that to be different."

"And if I am?"

Spinner frowned and downed what was left of his drink. Magne was giggling too hard to take a sip from hers.

"Do sidekicks count?" Dabi asked, his words slurred. The others were surprised he was participating, but it seemed his walls had crumbled as he got more intoxicated over the course of the night.

There was a general murmur of agreement.

"I think Burnin would be a cool girlfriend," Dabi started, "You know. We've both got quirks that make our flames different colors. She's strong, and pretty too, and our birthdays are the same, so we'd never forget each other's special day, and we could always celebrate together."

"Wow, never expected Dabi to be so sappy. I always knew he had a soft spot!"

"So you're into other fire quirks aye?" Mr. Compress asked, and Dabi nodded, "Thoughts on Endeavor then?"

"No! Absolutely not! Never in a million years! I will cremate you for even joking about that!" Dabi seethed. Magne scooted her stool away as the air temperature around Dabi rose rapidly.

"There's the Dabi we know. I like the other version better. Good to have him back."

"More for me I guess. He was going to be my answer," Dabi looked as if he had been greatly betrayed and wounded. The others brushed it off as him just being drunk, or as if he was reacting to Twice's comment instead.

"Boss? Twice?" Twice was visibly pondering too heavily to reply to Spinner, but Shigaraki had his answer locked and loaded.

"Eraserhead."

"The guy whose class you jumped?"

"He just so happened to be the teacher of the class All Might was attending. He wasn't my target, but it was nice seeing him up close and personal."

"May we ask why?" Magne probed.

"I just- I wouldn't have to worry about accidentally using my quirk on him. He could just cancel it and I could touch him without having to worry or think about how many of my fingers are touching him at all times or wear my quirk canceling gloves if I wanted to do that. Also he's just super cool and I think he's hot."

The bar fell silent. No one could really tell how serious their boss was being, and their collective intoxication (minus Himiko) wasn't helping.

"Reverse touch starved?" Someone snickered at Dabi's drunken murmur.

"Damn that's depressing. Can I have what you guys are drinking yet?" Himiko pouted with her pomegranate juice.

"No. You're underaged."

Himiko shot Magne a befuddled look, "So I can murder people and drink their blood, but alcohol is off limits?"

"Yes. Alcohol is bad for your little developing brain."

"And murder isn't?"

"I'm not sure any studies have been done on that so I can't conclusively say one way or the other."

Himiko continued to pout as Twice finally came to his decision.

"My answer is Hawks! That bird is lame and ugly."

Spinner let a few beats pass before speaking, "Oh so I get bullied for making a basic answer but Twice's answer can be Japan's number one bachelor and everyone accepts it?"

"I mean he clearly put some thought into it," Magne responded, "but yeah his might be worse than yours in that regard."

"His wings look so soft!" Twice continued, "Like a blanket of knives. And he's such an friendly and trustworthy guy! To the point it's almost suspicious."

Dabi laid his head against the counter, "I don't know why we're talking about this. Dating a hero is dangerous business, even if you're a civilian."

"It's fun to think about," Shigaraki replied, "and now I know how to gauge you guys a bit better."

"Whatever," Dabi stood and stumbled, "I'm going to bed."

Himiko waited until the arsonist was out of earshot before speaking with a mischievous grin, "Okay so I figured out Dabi's birthday-"
