Act One Episode One Script
We see Soclean on a bus. It is early in the morning. She is sitting drinking her tea watching the cars pass by. We zoom out to see the bus packed and a person comes and sits down by her. He is an old man with a white mustache and brown skin. He pulls out a newspaper and starts reading. Soclean takes a sip of tea as the bus bumps up. Tea has now covered the man sitting next to her.
Soclean: Ah! I’m so sorry.
The old man grumbles. Soclean looks around and sees a newspaper with the headline “Criminals with unnatural powers on the loose!” on the bus floor.
Soclean grabs the newspaper
Soclean: Here uh use this! It’s not much but maybe it can help?
The old man starts wiping his shirt off with a newspaper. Soclean gives him a nervous smile.
He shoves the soggy newspaper in his pocket. The bus keeps riding on and they both sit in silence.
Soclean: Uh so where are you headed?
The old man shrugged. Soclean took a closer look at the newspaper he's reading. We can see protest signs against something the mayors are doing.
Soclean: Oh you're going to a protest
The man nods
Soclean: Thats very brave of what you do. Standing up to authority and all. I say its crucial sometimes.
The man raised an eyebrow
Soclean: If we don’t do something necessary in a time of need we can’t fix the issue! My friends a reporter so she understands the weight the news has.
They both sat in silence for a few more minutes. Sooner or later the bus comes to a stop. The old man slowly stands up, nods towards Soclean- she nods back and he heads off.
A few more minutes pass and Soclean gets off the bus too. She heaves her backpack down to the ground and pants.
Soclean starts walking down a street filled with autumn trees and looks up towards a tall building. The sun glares into her face as she walks up the steps and to the door. She stands there and takes it all in. Felix pushes past her abruptly.
Soclean: (offended) Hey! What was that for?
Felix: (sarcasm) I’m so sorry , but I’m in a rush today and happened to bump into you cause you were gawking at a literal school building.
Soclean: YOU JERK!!!
They both walk into the classroom
Teacher: Welcome class! This is your final year of education so make it your best!
Soclean is seen sitting alone scribbling. Alya walks and sits next to her
Alya (in a whisper): Hey girl!
Soclean: HEY!
They do their secret handshake and start to laugh.
Teacher: Girls it's the start of the year quiet down a little!
They nod and start to whisper.
Soclean: Almost all of the class is here
Alya: Did you notice the new guy in class? *looks towards Felix* Hes pretty cute
Soclean: Yeah I noticed him. But not for THAT reason. That guy bumped past me on my way in and was pretty rude.
Alya: well, I hate to say this but that guy is famous…
Soclean: ........no
Alya: Uh yeah. He's a model and one the sons of the world renowned fashion designer Richard Agreste.
Soclean: THAT JERK IS-
The class looks at her. Including Felix. She blushes and shuts her mouth.
Alya (laughing): Yes hes famous
Soclean looks at Felix. She sighs…..
Time passes and Chloe shows up fabulously late. She goes over and starts bombarding Felix. She hugs him then backs up only a few inches. He looks uncomfortable
We zoom to Soclean and Alya.
Soclean: (a little too loud for comfort) of course he's friends with Chloe.
Alya: I mean….. He doesn’t look too happy to be here. Maybe we shouldn't judge him…..
Soclean looks at Felix again
Soclean: *sighs* maybe you’re right. But no matter, I will not let that encounter ruin my day.
We see a time lapse of the day going on. Felix keeps making snarky remarks and Soclean is annoyed. They are seen as clashing in the halls. Felix giving Soclean the death stare and Soclean sticking out her tongue. That's how the entire day goes.
Soclean and Alya walk out of school.
Alya: hey I have to go help my mom with my siblings. She’s cooking for the mayor tonight so she’s going to need some help.
Soclean: Of course girl, go help out your family. I’ll just head home.
Soclean walks home. She says a happy hello to her parents as they are hard at work in the kitchen baking pastries for the bakery. Soclean runs up to her room. She walks in, takes a deep breath, and sits down at her desk. She pulls a sketchbook out and reaches to grab a pencil. There is an odd shaped box. She opens it. A strange bug thing comes out of a pair of black earrings.
Tikki: HELLLOOO!
Soclean: AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. WHAT ARE YOU
Tikki: I’m Tikki, and I’m a kwami-
Soclean: MOM- DAD!
Tikki: SHHHHHH- *mumbles* this happens every time. *She goes and puts her hand over Socleans mouth*
Tikki: Don’t be afraid, I’m not dangerous. I’m your kwami, Tikki! And if you are going to scream again we will never get through this. SO, I’m going to need you to calm down, take a deep breath, and remain quiet. This will make sense if you let me explain.
Soclean reluctantly nods and Tikki removes her kwami hand off her mouth
Tikki: Ok so, I am here because you are the newest Ladybug superhero.
Soclean: Superhero…?
Tikki: Yes. You are here because the Guardian sensed a new evil presence.
Soclean: This isn’t a comic book! There are no evil presences. We are in Paris. Sure there's crime, but isn’t that everywhere in the world?
Tikki: How bad has the crime been in Paris recently?
Soclean: Well, not the best. The crime has been almost…. Supernatural. No one knows how these criminals keep getting away with it!
Tikki: Exactly, because these crimes are the making of a supervillain.
Soclean: So your telling me that theres a supervillain on the loose and I’m the new superhero to stop it!
Tikki: Thats exactly what I was going to say!
Soclean: But, this is just stuff that happens in the comics! Not in real life!
Tikki: Soclean, trust me. This is real and you are the chosen one.
Soclean: HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME? And besides I’m not cut out for this tikki……
Tikki: Listen, I can answer all of your questions. I just need to explain your powers first. Trust me. You were CHOSEN for this!
Soclean: *thinks*
Tikki: You don’t have to accept this immediately, I know its a lot. Let me just explain your powers.
Tikki proceeds to explain and there's images with words like “creation” and stuff. Soclean nods as she takes this all in.
Tikki: Oh yeah! There’s also a kiss that you have to give too…
Soclean: A KISS?
Tikki: Yes, I-
Tikki gets interrupted by a noise outside. Soclean runs out onto her roof and hears a man yelling on the Eiffel Tower. She can’t see him but she can hear his chilling voice.
Papillon: I WILL FIND YOU NEW LADYBUG AND CAT HOLDERS! AND YOUR MIRACULOUS WILL BE MINE!
Soclean: TIKKI- WHO IS THAT
Tikki: Thats the villain I was talking about! Hurry! I need you to say “Tikki spots on”
Soclean: Tikki spots on!?
She transforms into the superhero ladybug.
Ladybug *looks down at her costume*: AHHHHH- WHO AM I NOW? TIKKI WHERE ARE YOU? I NEED HELP!
She sees a black blur heading towards the eiffel tower.
Ladybug: I….I have to do something. Oh Tikki I hope you know what you are talking about.
The yo-yo at her waist swings up and feelings towards the nearest building. She goes flying towards the danger.
Cut to credits.
