Work Text:
The ANGEL'S eyes are like the sun. Like the sun on a hot summer day, burning your skin, your hair, your eyes, your everything, so that when its unblinking, all-encompassing gaze finally shifts, or better yet, leaves entirely, you want to collapse from the relief alone. Kris didn't know how many eyes IT had, or what colour they were, or how they glowed without casting light, but they felt ITS all too focused eyes staring above them all the same. You don't need eyes or ears to feel infrasound rattling your skull, filling your ears with pressure like water fills your spongy, overexerted lungs. Kris didn't need eyes or ears to FEEL the organic camera pointed at the whole room where they were made to stand, millions of miles away but so unfathomably grand it might as well be pressed against the glass for all it mattered.
Kris was so glad they could close their eyes. They reluctantly thanked the ANGEL its eyes closed too. They didn't need to close their eyes when Toriel got them and Susie dressed for church. They were very pleased by this. The fact that this might not have been the case had Toriel just told them to change upstairs did not occur to them, and the possibilities did not scratch at the back of their mind like a cat clawing at a fishtank. They were, in all honesty, glad they could shut their eyes and nothing more. They did not think of the most recent time that was useful.
Kris squeezed their eyes shut. They didn't want to see this. They didn't want IT to see this. The feeling of her furred fingers, her breath stuttering like a glitched video, the red glow of their mutated SOUL visible through their translucent eyelids, the way she seized and went slack on repeat as IT whispered, muttered, mumbled, laughed, sobbed, shrieked, spoke, into her shivering soul through singing, crimson nerves-veins-neurons-roots, said things that they only caught glimpses-snippets-whiffs of, but those were enough to set their decaying body alight with fear and they didn't know why but she did and it was killing her breaking her ripping the petals from the stem and activating dormant genes to form anew her rotting too fast corpse into what she wanted needed prayed for all these years spent lying in an invisible coffin only kris could see but they were dead too and a coward anyway and ANGEL the phantom pain hurts more a knife or bullet pattern ever could and pleasepleaseplease feel it too, i PRAY to you it hurts a hundredthousandbillion times more for you than us you're STILL TALKING STOP IT STOP IT STOPITSTOPITSTOPIT SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP
it was more than enough. We didn't need to see it, too.
