Chapter Text
Many stories start somewhere far away, with prince living in a castle or princess locked in the tower, how guided by the fate they find true love and live happily ever after without an sadness or problems. But it is not like really life works, right? Our every living second is just a lot of coincidences forming in one whole, you can’t stop it. It’s only matter of time, when we would find ourselves in a situation that will turn our life upside down.
So, I’m going to start the story with the end of someone’s life, precisely death of a high standing lady. Sadly, she was a lovely woman. She loved spring, because then world wake up and her favourite flowers will bloom in whole garden. She loved the memory of the man she married, who turned out to be an abuser and cheater.
But what she loved the most in the world, was her son.
Young boy, because he was only 11 years old then, was devastated. He closed himself on all relations he had, whole world and all love within him died with his mother.
He had money of course, he was a son of the famous trader, but the boy never put an eye on his father's business. They lived in a big mansion surrounded by beautiful garden full of rare flowers. Although he could have everything he desired, the loss of mother made him selfish, mean and unkind, making everyone who worked there have a very hard time.
All changed one summer evening. A lavish birthday party was thrown in his family’s main mansion to celebrate boy’s 16th birthday. Invitation was send to many high standing people, mayors, generals and potential allies.
In the middle of celebrations, an old women knocked on the doors and offered jubilant a single rose as a birthday present. Repulsed by the state of the flower and appearance of the lady, he laughed at her. He tried closing doors to her face, but she quickly stopped him.
“You shouldn’t rely on the appearance, for beauty that can be found within” she said.
Only when he sent guards to walk her away, the old woman’s ugliness melted away revealing a beautiful enchantress.
The boy tried to apologise, but it was too late for she had seen, that there was no love and mercy in his heart. As the punishment she transformed him into hideous monster and placed a powerful curse, not only on the house and it’s grants, but also guests that were attending the banquet.
Ashamed of his monstrous form the Butcher hid himself inside his mansion. Making him the convict under the power of spell with a little magic pendant as his only window to the outside world.
The rose the woman had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his 29th birthday.
“If you could learn to love another and earn their love in return, by the time the last petal falls, then the spell would be broken. If not, you will be doomed to remain a monster, for all time.” promised enchantress, before vanishing without a trace.
As the years passed, he fell into deeper despair - that started with his mother death - and lost all hope because...
Who could ever learn to love a monster?
