Chapter Text
“How long do we have to get through this fucking traffic?!” Jecka responds to the traffic that’s laid across the city.
Jecka, known for her being the impatient one when it comes to patience for anything at anytime on something or someone is on a ranting fit on the traffic that is happening with many honking from other cars that are making it hard to hear for anyone to know what’s going on, except for Nicole’s sleepiness that is drowned down by her not noticing any noise while being knocked out throughout their many times of switching seats.
-Nicole snoring beside her-
“Move out of the way! Do you know how stress the fuck it is for me?!”
“Nicole?” Jecka says to Nicole’s "unconscious" body in the passenger seat. “Nicole!”
“Mnh.. What..? Did we make it to the house..?” Nicole responded to her shouting of everyone’s annoyance to her. “No, do you fucking think we’re at the house?”
“Fuck you, I was just asking a question. Didn’t need to go all loud mouth on me.”
Here’s Nicole, the one person who is Jecka’s wife sleeping in her car while taking a break from driving when she was sleep the entire rest of the time they were driving straight along with the moving truck, keeping track on their stuff, thinking that they might be at their house already, and is waiting for the couple to arrive.
“Well just hold on and wait for it to go green, and you’ll be fine.. Don’t do too much to blow your pressure up.” Nicole advises Jecka to calm down.
-sighs-
“Alright, Alright. I’ll calm down as SOON AS THESE FUCKING CARS MOVE!”
“You’re still the same girl as ever, one that hates death, but loves how you are.”
“Yeah, you’re right.
“Finally, we made it to the house, which–”
“Which took not so long as it was only 20 minutes for the traffic to clear up.”
“Yeah, I guess.. Let’s go see the people and get our stuff.”
“Right with ya, honey.” Nicole says, getting out of her car.
With the commotion from the traffic whilst reaching the suburbs while the rest of the moving truck and people was already there waiting for them to get here and their stuff inside their house in the next few days until next week after everything is unpacked and loaded inside while having the place to themselves now.
“Whew.. that was a fucking lot..”
“Bitch, you barely did anything but picked up some of the boxes that were laying around when they brought it in.”
“At least you didn’t spend most of your time trying to get one of them to leave a “special tip”, cause I'm right here, Jecka. If you wanted to have some fun, you could’ve just asked me.”
“That’s not the point right now. I’m now thinking about something that was on my mind when we started driving up here.” Jecka says, about her childhood friend that she hasn’t seen in over 10 years where she thought she remembered seeing her, but don’t know if it was her or someone else that looked similar to her. “Well, what is it?” Nicole asks.
“It’s… uh…”
“Come on, let’s go on the balcony so you can talk there about what's on your mind.”
“Since when have you started to focus on my mind?”
“We’re married, duh. Now come on.” Nicole says, getting up from the floor and out the balcony door.
After following Nicole out of the balcony door to the balcony itself, it has relieved themselves to the nature of the suburbs of how it is at night where everything is peaceful and noticeable through how far the city of Denmark is at from where they’re at, to where Jecka starts talking about her childhood best friend before Nicole. Mika.
“So peaceful, huh?”
“Yeah. I guess so. It’s really pretty out here.” Jecka says, amazed by the lights down below the sidewalk and the city itself. “So what’s been on your mind since we got here?”
“It’s about my childhood best friend, and–”
‘Hold up! Hold the fuck up! Best Friend?!”
‘Yeah.. I had a best friend before you, Nicole.”
“Ok, ok. Keep going.” Nicole said, drinking a leftover beer in the fridge on the balcony.
“Well, her name is Mika, Mika Saro. And we became friends when we lived in Montana. We played together many other days, always being by her side for everything that came in between us all the time until said time would go by until I had to move to Virginia for reasons that my parents wanted for, leaving her unnoticed until a couple of years back.”
“What happened years back?”
“When we got married in D.C. At one split second, I thought I saw Mika at the wedding and the party while you were dancing the life out of you, It just had me wondering if she was there or not..”
“I don’t know who this Mika person is, but it seems like she would’ve been there if it was our wedding and party.”
“Yeah.. I just hope she still remembers me..”
“I’m sure she does, it’s that I don’t think she knows that unless you know.” Nicole says, responding to Jecka's response.
“Is that really you saying that, or is it the booze doing the talking, cause it seems like the both of yall are fucking cooperating with my rant.”
“Yeah– -burps- it is both of us..” Nicole says, fully drunk from one bottle of booze, having it dropped in front of their house door.
“Oh, Nicole.. What am I gonna do with you?” Jecka said.
As Nicole’s drunken self comes up, Jecka takes her inside and into bed where they will rest for the rest of the night to themselves, Jecka realized that New York was not far from where they’re at based on the city that was near Denmark, to having her think of an idea of the couple go to New York to see what’s there as their first time seeing the Big Apple and why it’s called the Big Apple for a reason, different types of food to be eaten, and seeing someone there while thinking of where her best friend could be at...
“So this is New York.. So fucking huge that would be the first one to know that you would’ve been kidnapped!”
“Yeah, and don’t say that, Nicole! There’s people around..”
“Fuck the people. We’re out in the Big Apple..? Why do they fucking call this city an apple? It’s not shaped like one, it doesn’t have apple trees, nothing apple related.”
“The reason why they call it the Big Apple is because it was historically seen as the ultimate prize in horse racing before.” Jecka shortly explains the history of NYC.
“Have you been reading the damn brochure that man gave you when we got here?” Nicole asks Jecka.
“Maybe, yeah. But we’re not here to know about it, we need to get some things for the house to make it more comfortable to live in.”
“How the fuck are we going to find a goddamn place that would be useful for that suggestion?”
“Nicole, we’re in New York, in Times Square in all fucking places, why the fuck would there not be any?”
“Maybe I can help with that? Hey Nicole and Jecka. Long time, no see.” A hazel haired woman said as she came across right in front of the couple.
After arguing a bit in the middle of Times Square, a woman who was a fully ledged adult like the others after graduating from Maryland and moving to New York, came up to the couple to see if they needed from one person they haven’t seen in over 2 years, but kept in touch. Megan.
“Megan?! Why are you in New York?”
“I was gonna ask the same thing to you guys as for how this is y’all first time here?”
“Yeah. it is, and we're trying to find a store that has some things off of our list that we need for the house we moved in like a week ago.” Jecka says to Megan about their trip.
“Oh, that’s easy, cause I know some good places that have some nice things for your house. By the way, where do you guys live now?” Megan asks the couple where they live.
“We live in New Jersey, so we’re not that far from where you’re at.”
“Oh, sweet! So happy to see you guys here, along with the others too.”
“Others? What do you mean, others?”
“You didn’t know? Emily and the others moved here after the incident from Coastal America that had them leave there to be here instead, now they’re living a new life amongst the others.”
“How the fuck did we not know this shit?! I could’ve been there and see what’s there!” Nicole says.
“No, you would’ve, Nicole. We have shopping to do, and Megan, I kinda wanted to talk to you as we do the shopping if you don’t mind taking half of your day to do that.”
“Oh, yeah sure. It’s no problem at all. I’m practically free since I'm out of college and in my own apartment.”
“Thank you so much.” Jecka thanks Megan.
“Bullshit.” Nicole says.
While shopping for essentials for their house and for Megan’s apartment as a thanks for letting her tell about her childhood friend, she gladly hears about it and may have talked to her before, but didn’t know that it was Jecka’s childhood best friend that she had.
“So, what’s new with you, Jecka and Nicole?”
“Nothing much, I mean you already know we’re married and all, but it’s something else that’s been on my mind after we got married that hopefully you would know about.”
“Well, what’s up? I’m all ears.”
“Mostly all heads.” Nicole said sarcastically.
“Shut the fuck up, Nicole.” Megan said.
“Anyways, like I remember how I said it: her name is Mika. Mika Saro, if that rings a bell. And I was friends with her, best friends for dear life back when we both lived in Montana. We played together many other days, always being by her side for everything that came in between us all the time until said time would go by until I had to move to Virginia for reasons, and you get the gist.”
“Wow, how many years have you not seen her?”
“I can guess around 10 years.”
“Jesus, Jecka! Have you not been in touch the last time you saw her?!”
-people murmuring from Megan’s yell-
“You’re almost about to get us kicked out, Megs. What the fuck are you saying?” Nicole says, telling Megan about her yelling that almost got some people over where they’re at. “Just shut up and let’s pay for this stuff!” Megan says, getting her things onto the counter.
After Nicole, Jecka, and Megan paid for all their essentials for their house and apartment, they got out and decided to use Megan’s car to drive around New York to show them the rest of the city while talking to Jecka about her knowing some of her social media that she came around to randomly.
“Now that we got this shit in hand, how the FUCK are we going to get this back home?!” Nicole shouts.
“Don’t worry, Nicole, cause we can use my car.” Megan says, getting all the stuff in the trunk.
“I didn’t know you had a car, Megan.”
“Well, they’re a lot of things you don’t know much about after 2 years.”
“That’s not saying much, cause you've been to our wedding.”
“Which was 2 YEARS. AGO.”
“Whatever, whatever, whatever! Let’s just get to the point. So you said that she has an account?”
“Yeah, she does. I stumbled upon it randomly, and didn’t realize that it was about her and… you.”
“W…what?..”
“Come on, We’ll talk while we drive to my apartment to talk more about it.”
“Just don’t try to kill us while talking to my wife.”
“Enough with the slander, I'm an excellent driver, Nicole. You’ll probably be killed if you keep pressuring me.” Megan said, putting a stop to Nicole’s sarcasm.
“Alright, I’ll back off. For now..” Nicole says.
“Alright then.”
Agreeing to stop making fun of Megan with Jecka, they’ve made it to Megan’s apartment, which is a beauty for how spacious, sparkly, and… like a normal apartment with not much things except for achievements, different TVs in many rooms, and seeing it’s a good place to tell more about her trip that Jecka and Megan has made a thing.
“So what account does she have?” Jecka asks.
More importantly, how big is your apartment, Megan? That’s a lot of achievements laid on that poor wall.” Nicole says about her apartment.
At least it’s an apartment, Nicole, cause it’s what I had in mind when looking through many different apartment complexes.”
Megan showed Jecka one of the person’s accounts she had on her phone.
“Does this give any remembrance of her?”
‘Yes.. Yes! This is it! And it said that they live in… Oklahoma?!”
After seeing the location of Mika, she was exaggerated of how she’s in a different state after they moved down from Montana to Oklahoma.
“That’s really around the south.” Megan says.
“That was all of us when we all used to live near the south in Virginia.”
“I guess so, but look where we are, in larger cities than less suburbs. At least you know how it works as an adult.”
“Yeah, but anyway besides that, how are we going to get down to Oklahoma?” Jecka says, wondering how they can go down to Oklahoma.
“Hm.. about a trip down to see her?” Megan answers with an idea of a road trip through the country of the states.
“By plane?” Nicole said.
“No, No. I meant a road trip down to Oklahoma.”
‘Are you fucking crazy?! That’s 7 hours away by plane! We’ll make it there by using the plane!” Nicole shouts.
“No, it's around 1,282 miles, and it’s cheaper, though expensive for electricity and things cause I got a Tesla, but it’s going to be fine.”
“You know what, that’s not a bad idea, Megs. We could do another road trip after years.”
“You gotta be kidding me. Do you guys know how long it’s that long to reach?”
“Yeah, but it’s something that I wanted to do since I’ve not seen my best friend in years.”
“You can tap out on this one if you want to, Nicole. It could just be me and Jecka going down.”
“Not unless you count the others.”
“Oh, they won’t know about it, besides, they’re in other parts of New York.”
“Well… shit… Fine, I guess I’ll join you guys.”
“Oh, thank you Nicole–!!” Jecka says, pulling her in with a hug as appreciation.
“Yeah, yeah. Now let’s go back home and pack our things and let this shitshow start.” Nicole says, hugging her back with passive face, but smiles upon it.
“I’ll drive y’all back. How far are you guys?” Megan asks.
“Not that far.”
“Alright, as soon as I drop you guys off, we’re going on this road trip!”
“Yay!!”
“Fuuuck..”
