Work Text:
Leona was a gentleman.
Despite his roguish appearance and rough temperament, Leona had values as an alpha. While napping through, or outright skipping, most lessons as a young cub, alpha etiquette was a matter of pride. Knowing how an alpha should be and acting so, was not only a royalty standard but a beastman one. Alphas who couldn’t behave appropriately were seen as trash and discarded as such.
Alphas use their strength to protect the pack.
Alphas value the well-being of their mates and cubs.
Alphas are respectful towards omegas and do not cross boundaries.
Even if a pretty omega falls asleep on Leona’s chest, his head nuzzled against his shoulder and the soft smell of roses tickling his sensitive nose.
Leona let out a huff, carefully adjusting Silver’s body to get a better hold. The omega sighed in contentment, his scent spiking in satisfaction with his new pillow. The alpha felt amusement rise in his chest. While his intentions for inviting Silver to the botanical garden was to get closer to the omega, he didn’t intend for this to happen.
Not that he was complaining.
Leona had heard through Ruggie’s yapping that Silver was looking to learn chess. Apparently, lizard breath wanted a partner, and Silver was dedicated enough to learn an entire strategy game to please him. In Ruggie’s words, Silver was looking for a “very smart and handsome teacher” to show him how to play. The beta was determined to play wingman, probably thinking Leona would up his allowance after sniffing out the alpha’s feelings for his fellow sophomore.
Ruggie even went as far to invite Silver to the dorm for a “studying session,” which led to him directly asking Leona if he would help Silver. The omega looked at him expectantly, his usual hazy expression missing. When the alpha had agreed, Silver gave him a rare smile, promising not to let him down. Leona gave an indistinct answer before leaving, his tail swishing contently behind him.
On the day of their “lesson,” Silver met Leona in his usual napping spot. The branches provided coverage from the sunlight peaking through and the grass was soft and well-napped on. Leona had the omega sit next to him as he began to explain the rules. Silver was an excellent student, asking questions and nodding appropriately. This was until his eyes began to flutter shut, his scent taken on a softer note. Leona watched in amusement as Silver succumbed to sleep, the omega slumping against him.
Hence the situation he’s in now.
Close to an hour had passed without the omega awakening. Leona was more than content with having Silver pressed against his chest. His tail thumped happily next to him, his eyes half closed and nose full of Silver’s soft scent. He was on the verge of falling asleep when he felt the boy in his arms stir.
“Leona-senpai?” Silver murmured, slowly opening his eyes. Sleep still had a tight grip on him, his words coming out soft and slightly slurred.
“You awake?” Leona tilted his head, stealing another whiff from Silver’s hair. The omega let out a soft hum, his eyes starting to slip close again. A bird nearby let out a sharp chirp, seemingly snapping Silver out of his sleep induced haze. He jerked up, hands coming to rest against Leona’s chest as he pushed himself out of the alpha’s arms.
“I-I apologize.” He tried to move further back, but Leona’s arms stayed firm around his waist.
Leona frowned at the sudden loss of warmth. “What are you apologizing for?”
Silver stopped pulling away and allowed Leona’s arms to settle on his waist again. “I have been disrespectful. You’re doing me a favor and instead of learning, I fell asleep on you.”
“And that’s a bad thing?”
Silver frowned. “My father would be disappointed to learn I took advantage of another’s kindness.”
Leona thought Silver’s father may be more disappointed that his omega son did not realize the position he was in with an alpha. Silver was still sitting on Leona’s lap, his hands wrestling against the alpha’s pecs. Leona’s own hands were still resting on Silver’s waist and felt the lithe muscles underneath.
“Does it look like I care?” Leona yawned, settling back against the trunk. “I’m not in the mood to teach anyway.”
“I apologize again.” Silver’s shoulders slumped. He looked at Leona sincerely, his iridescent eyes shimmering in guilt. “Is there anything I can do to make up for my transgression?”
Leona swore he was a gentleman, but he was also an alpha with his crush looking pitiful in his arms. “You sure?”
Silver nodded. “Yes!”
“Lay back down.” Leona patted his chest where Silver’s head was resting earlier. The omega hesitated.
“...Are you sure?”
“Didn’t you promise?” The alpha smirked and gave a light squeeze. The omega twitched in surprise before slowly laying back down. Leona readjusted his hold to make the omega more comfortable.
Silver looked up at Leona. “Does this make you happy?”
Leona let out a hum, eyes closed. “What do you think?”
“Your scent is stronger.” The omega seemed to unconsciously nuzzle into Leona’s neck, right up against his scent gland. “It’s nice.”
The alpha fought to keep his eyes closed and breath steady.
“Your heart is also beating faster.”
“No more talking.” He pressed the omega tighter to his chest, rubbing his chin against the top of his head. Silver was quiet for a moment.
“Leona-senpai is truly kind.” Leona felt the omega smile against his chest before his breaths evened out, falling back into a sweet dream.
Leona allowed himself to rest as well, the smell of roses lulling him to sleep. His heart thumping hard against his chest.
