Alex Vargas, a 16 year old high school student, athletic, fast yet has a thing for comparing herself with others and frustrating over her own limits. Thinking no matter what she does she will never grow up as a person and never reach her best potential. This comes partially by always being the "Second choice" or never getting the praise a winner has.
One day where she is overthinking things after making her softball team lose a match, Alex is almost run over by a truck going at high speed. Suddenly. A miracle?
A portal opens below her feet and before the truck hits, our protagonist is sucked inside the portal.
After being sucked inside she travel through a big cosmic fall before she hits land. But this isn't her city. And before she realizes, shes being carried by someone. A Knight?! Where did he came from?! And just when she thinks shes dead and this is the afterlife, she sees an horde of beasts, horrifying monster and zombies?!
Now she just feels alive by the fact she's screaming and hurrying the man carrying her.
Suddenly the knight in shinning armor threw her forward, from his back he pulled a chainsaw. A weird looking one.
it went from a regular chainsaw to a bigger on, it grew an extra blade with both making a scissor shaped blades. As he runs forward to his weapon traps bodies and thrashes them like a rabid dog. The blades weren't the only thing to worry about, the weight was enough to crush bodies like a big heavy rock.
Soon the grand horde of monsters turned into a formless, bloody piles of body. But for some reason.. there was no red in their blood. no recognizable organs and most importantly: None of them seemed like any person nor animal she has seen before.
Marcos Coceres: Marcos is a guardian knight part of the rural defense agroupation of Argentina. He was exploring old ruins in search of anyone hiding inside when he found an ancient book that talks about the old and unknown magic of portals and he tried an spell, which led to bring our protagonist Alex to this world. he also made another portal that accidentally teleported the horde to them. And to survive he threw the book away, leaving it there to rot and destroy as the horde stomps on it.
He explains whats going on to the already agitated teenager.
Basically around the 2020's, while most countries started developing new technologies when they managed to mix magic and technology as a brand new thing: Aeternica.
It quickly spread to the whole planet. In scientific terms, is a contagious virus that causes cardiac arrest among other heart disseases until the heart stops pumping. When the heart stops pumping blood, it starts to pump a dark liquid that fills all the body's veins and arteries. then the subject comes back to life but more dangerous, barely recognizable.
The only cure is blood, you grab a sample of the subject's blood group and you inject it in their main vein so the blood cleans the dark liquid, Known as "Holy blood" ironically. But the infection made humans and other creatures monsters, so many types of monsters that caused a lot of struggles in many spaces. At some point they managed to affects Earth's atmosphere and contaminated the air, so now the virus infects via contact and via air.
"oh... oh! i get it! Im dead! And since i was such a hateful dumbass i ended up in limbo" Alex felt delusional, expecting to wake up in a hospital bed after, supposedly, getting hit by that truck
"uhh no? I'm pretty sure this is real, because of this." Marcos gloved hand pressed, not at all, gently into Alex's ankle which resulted in the girl screaming in pain
so this was real, the monsters, the infection, everything he said was real.
"Magic?... THERE'S UNICORNS HERE?!"
"They went extinct 40 years ago because rich families couldn't stop hunting their horns for magic rituals."
Too much information at the poor teenager's brain made click and...
Alex fainted.
